Will 7/8 inch be sufficient for monotub holes? It's the largest hole saw bit I have

Oh. By the way. Tub is 12 gallon tote. 18 inches long by 13 inches wide by 12 inches deep.

I don't see why it won't work.
If you think they are too small, just don't pack them as tight with poly.

Yeah. I figure as much. The tub is on the smaller side as well. I usually use 66 quart sterlites and always made 1.5 inch holes as per many modern mono teks. I just happen to have come across a bunch of these 12 gallon totes as my 66 quart ones have since cracked over te years. Can't find that bit though. But thinking maybe 7/8 is suitable being that these tubs are slightly smaller? I'm always overly anal and anxious about going against certain suggested methods until, I do and find out that something might work just as good another way. Like I've recently stopped altering my lids and everything comes out just fine. A lot of other things also over the years. I still am aprehensive when doing as much for first time. I gather I'll just give it a try and if it's not too optimal conditions with smaller hole I can get the bit down the line and make bigger if need be. Just spawning today so was curious. Thanks

Ya I think since the tote is smaller it will work out just fine.
Let us know how it goes!

Just did the math... 7/8 diameter hole will have a surface area 0.6 square inch.
Standard monotub holes are 1.5 inch diameter = 1.8 square inch
1.8/0.6 = 3
your holes will be 1/3 the surface area of standard monotub holes

Don't be surprized if you find you need to completely remove the poly at some stage in the grow. I expect FAE may be an issue.
I use 105qt tubs and 8 holes(6 bottom 2 top) @ 2.0 inches diameter, and sometimes I even need more FAE and crack the lid
