How Far We Have Come

Just being bored, I watched some original videos on the PF tek. Okay, so they may have twisted it a bit and not followed it to the T, but man oh man was there some flaws. I'm sure every tek has improved over the years, however this irked me enough I had to post.
We'll start with inoculation. It is "required" to use two inoculation holes. One on each side of the jar. With the needle pointing towards the glass.
...okay, to interrupt, they have one part right.
Incubation should be at exactly 86° and in 100% pitch black. Anything lower or higher will slow or stunt growth. Expected growth periods should be 10-15 days for full colonization. Temperatures of 75° should expect 15-30 days for full colonization.
Birthing: Any excess moisture should be wiped off of the cakes with a paper towel and fruited immediately, keeping the dry verm layer that was originally in the jar. Any excess moisture can be harmful.
FC: use a clear plastic tote, with six 1/4" holes in the bottom above the perlite for the heavy CO2 to escape. Use a 1/2" layer of perlite wetted with a solution of water and H2O2. No misting is needed, as the perlite provides a humidity of 100%.
An alternate terrarium could be a fish tank, with a plexiglass cover angled inside to keep humidity, but protect the cakes from the water droplets that can harm them or cause contamination when misting. Cover with seran wrap to protect them from the air and be careful no water lands on them. . . . I couldn't help but crack a smile at the things that were said in the video. I am by no means a TC or well experienced, but I'm on here enough to see that methods have changed over the years. As well as common belief. Chime in if you have heard of stuff like this.

The information on Home cultivation has improved so much, even in the last few years. Especially in the last few years.
More people are using agar right off the bat, using still air boxes properly, the use of (badly made) LC has declined.
Its definetly a good time to start cultivating, with this wealth of information becoming common knowledge

Hell, I just came back to the hobby and the information from 5 or 6 years ago is soooo much better today. I've been devouring all the new threads lately. Great stuff.
