They have an incubator with a fish tank heater and some kinda air tube in it.  Maybe they should uh.. lurk a bit more.  They also appear to be underage.

A butane or propane torch/torch lighter would be best.  I would probably recommend a bic before I recommended a zippo, you're going for less soot, not more.

After many years of thinking about it, studying many sites, and generally waffling about it, I finally took the plunge about two weeks after discovering the Shroomery and threads like this one. Obtained spores (yes, I've seen the debates for liquid cultures -- this was the best option to slip those over the California border via another state), created my SAB, bought all of the raw materials EXACTLY as presented. After many years as a (fully carded) medical cannabis grower (Hydro Cab grow with LED lighting FTW!), the start up costs under a couple of hundred were positively minuscule in comparison, and that included two "extra" sterilite bins (that Amazon 4 pack price was too good to skip!) and enough raw materials for several future grows (I always start a new skill set assuming failure... if the first attempt succeeds, then I call it beginners luck and move on).

I inoculated the jars (12 of them) on the 22nd, and (through sheer force of will) didn't touch the jars again until I checked them last night. Much to my surprise, I saw definite mycelium growth in 11 of the 12, and NO (knocks on wood furiously as he types this) sign of contamination.

While there is still a ways to go (I'm building a shotgun with a a pvc base to give it the full clearance it needs while the colonization is underway) I wanted to thanks everyone on the shroomery (RR and Shea25 in particular) for giving this noob the tools to succeed.

And to all the other noobs; Seriously, listen to what the pioneers say -- FOLLOW THE TEK. I am stunned (though sadly not surprised) at the amount of grief those who have walked before us receive.

Well, hello gorgeous!

thank you for the tek

you didn't include an incubation chamber and was wondering why? And when should it be necessary to use?

I'm very new to mushie cult and bought the same kit with fish heater and pump with hepa filter. just picked first fruits today. Its a decent set up imo but i think it needs some improvement for sure. I have 17 brf cakes in mine and i dont think the air pump can handle that kinda load and is restricting fruiting. After first flush i plan on dunking and adding holes in chamber per specs. I intend to go bulk soon and will need more ae anyways. Any advice would be awesome... http://

its like a FC for spawn... but i was wondering why and when to use it sense some people say to just leave your jars on a shelf with ambient sun light, but the incubator seems to be the opposite as it is a dark heated tub.

i have some inoculated jars been sitting for about 3 weeks with no sign of myc growth or any contam, im thinking i didn't wait long enough to nocc up the jars since i did it same day, or my room temp is not suitable for myc growth... but where i live its hot year round so idk?

also i have condensation in my jars, i flipped one upsidown and using coffee paper as a lid for another one, i am experimenting cause at this point idk why i do not see growth?

Very nice guide, interested in trying out these 6500k LED strips everyone is talking about instead of a bulb for this tek. What's your take on those?
Strips or bulbs?
You may choose only one

2 parts verm 1 part brf and 1 part water

Why only 5 jars? I would do like 12 or 24 at least.

2+1+1 = 4
Verm is 50%
Water 25%
Brf 25%

5 X 1/2pint = 2.5 pints

25% of 2.5 is 0.625pints
50% of 2.5 is 1.25 pints

0.625 pint brf + 0.625 pint water + 1.25 pint verm = 2.5 pints

Or you know figure it out for 1 jar then multiply by how many jars you need

0.25 brf 0.25 water 0.5 verm = 1 pint /2 for 1/2 pint size

Its always 2:1:1

4th grade fraction ratio math
