    #2402477 - 03/04/04 01:50 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

just something i was pondering in my contemporary ethics class...what if "god" is evolved energy controlling all things in our galaxy which our souls/energy/whatever join when our bodies die and there is a different "god/evolved energy" for every galaxy...why should "god" be compared to a being....just something to think about....what's everyones' opinions??

Code:
why should "god" be compared to a being

On most religions the cognitive process in the creation of concept of god can be considered as anthropomorphic. Some might argue about this concept should be applied only to natural phenomena, as god is considered super natural but i find this "what is natural/super natural" issue very relative.
Anyway, in my concept of god, he's everything but a being, he's just an entity. I see the "human like god", this anthropomorphism, as a selfish conceptualization coming from a long way in history.
If you have never seen god, how can you tell anything about how he looks like ?

I agree, God isnt necessarily some all powerful being, but more a state of being, in which everything is a part of.
God is gravity, wind, laughter, planets, thoughts, emotions, you, me, everything.
I think when we die, we dont suddenly merge into some universal energy that controls everything, but that we've always been a part of it.

ah i cant get my thoughts together today. let me wake up a bit

I wonder if the individual circuits in a computer refer to the computer as a whole as "God"?

Sorry, that's the closest analogy I could come up with to what my idea of God is - God is everything, but without everything there is no "God"

I agree with manna_man.

I don't believe in a 'god' as society would like me to. I believe that 'god' is simply energy that is in all of us.

God is simply a way of quantifing your own existance.

The brain cannot accept that their is no reason for existance.

God is another part of your very own ego.

I do not believe in god.

I do not disbelieve in higher energies. (Higher energies has no connection with any religion).
