Panaeolus cinctulus... Definitely what I was looking for.

OK so I want to start by just starting. This is what my experience was, yours might be different. I'm not a doctor and I'm not trying to fix anything. I wanted a profound psychedelic experience. I had recently had a San Pedro experience that was fun but left me wanting SIGNIFICANTLY more. I don't have any connections to even begin trying to get any hallucinogens so I was on my own. I've rolled through the Shroomery for a decade as a spectator. When I lived in New England I used to hunt constantly and only found a handful of shrooms most of which honestly were a bust. I never really joined on the message board and took it seriously because I always knew where to buy what I wanted and I was lazy and just bought my shrooms, MDMA, LSD, mescaline and who knows what else. Anyways I found cincts in New England and thought they were a complete joke. Basically i lost interest. I'm realizing I probably ate panaeolina look alikes. And a shitload of them. One time I remember eating a couple hundred at once and just felt a little off, not good or bad just different definitely not a trip.
I got a confirmation on what I found here from MaynardJamesKeenan. I'm a huge mjk fan both music and wine. I'll admit it made me giddy when he commented on my ID request. Which left me rather motivated to find enough for a good time. I noticed the ones I found are completely different from the ones I used to think were the right ones. I found dozens of them growing on manure. The stems are thick and obvious. The spores are black as pitch. The caps are bell shaped when premature, plane when perfect or wavy when older but still good. The colors on the cap are a dead giveaway. They're all different sizes my largest was just shy of 9 inches tall with a 3 inch wavy cap and I regularly find full grown specimen under an inch tall.
The first time I took these California grown horse manure loving mushrooms was last week Thursday. One week ago today. After 36 hours in the dehydrator and 24 hours in a big tub of desiccant I couldn't wait for the weekend. The reason being I had found a ton more and wanted to know if I should harvest or ignore them.
I had 7 grams of cracker dry mushrooms. But something told me to hold back so I measured out 4 grams. Folks I have experience with hallucinogens and I can keep my shit together regardless. I've done it all and loved it all. 4 grams of these panaeolus cinctulus dried blew my fucking mind!
I ate them expecting little to nothing would happen. My girl was with me because she was interested in maybe trying them herself some day. Ten minutes after I ate them I started feeling it. Mind you no weed, no alcohol. I really wanted to see if these would be worth a damn. The come up was invigorating. It was fun and funny and very speedy. Within an hour full blown visuals. Closing my eyes was disorienting with the waves of kaleidescope colors flowing like crazy. It was fucking intense. Borderline too intense but I was loving every minute! So to avoid explaining every moment of my trip. It was fantastic and gave me everything I could have wanted. The comedown was mellow I smoked a bone and just hit the couch because I was a little twitchy. I fell asleep fairly quickly, slept through until morning and woke up loving life!
I took 3 grams last Saturday and again it was fantastic however I did wake up worn out. Ran out of brain juice. Whatever still a fun colorful trip.
The body load during the trip was minimal but admittedly the second time I was a bit queazy for like half an hour.
I guess the whole point of my post here is to motivate someone to go have a good time without it costing them anything. If you have questions please ask. So far I've only found panaeolus cinctulus on the central coast.
Having trouble uploading photo collection I'll figure it out and add to my post.

Just to be clear, I found my first specimen January 9th. In ten days I've found all of these and a bunch more. All over town. On grass, in garden beds, manure and compost piles and my personal favorite was a group just hanging out in bare sand.

They very well could be farther south but where im at up north its been too cold and dry im a very inexperienced hunter but i plan on practicing when the weather becomes more appropriate. im sure they are around here somewhere when conditions are right! We do have quite a few cattle pastures around here
