Need Tor help on Apple/Mac

I have always used windows operating system when using tor and never encountered any problems. My laptop ended up with some age on it so I went and bought the new Macbook Air. Its nothing special. It gets the job done for what i use it for.
Anyways....When i downloaded tor on the new mac, tor could not connect. It said that there was an issue with the proxy server and a connection could not be found or something like that. I found where there were some proxy settings on the actual tor tool bar under "network settings." (or something like that.) However, nothing I tried worked.
Has anyone encountered an issue like this with using a mac and tor. I am still unable to connect. Any help would be really appreciated.

This link should help you out. Apple has gone kind of Orwellian recently when it comes to programs that are not available in the app store, which results in all this BS.

I used to use Tor with Privoxy without any issues. Though, I'd kind of "double down" by using Tor then going through another proxy. With the recent increase of popularity of Tor, feds are keeping *that* much more of an eye on the traffic that goes through. Good luck, man.
-------------------- A human being is part of a whole, called by us, the "Universe", a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

Agreed, depending on what you are using Tor for, you may want to look into alternatives on the ClearNet instead.

If you actually care enough about privacy and security to use tor then use a free operating system, GNU/Linux, Freebsd, Openbsd, etc. At least certainly don't use apple or microsoft malware.
