That's what this really is all about.

You.

The only understanding in the Universe that matters, is your own understanding.

I love me some Lao Tzu (or sometimes spelled Laozi).  The Tao Te Ching is one of my favorite books of all time.

I also really enjoy Alan Watts lectures.  I like that he was an Episcopal priest who left the church to further study Eastern philosophy (he had studied it before, but decided to delve deeper into it upon becoming disenchanted with the official Christian church and its preference for dogma over wisdom and open discussion).  So having been trained in both the Judeo-Christian and Eastern traditions (as well as the psychedelic traditions haha) he was able to eloquently convey a very balanced philosophy which incorporated and reconciled each against their counterparts.

He was considered a heretic and "possessed" by many Christian fundamentalists, though he made more sense out of the stories of Jesus than any of them ever did (in my opinion).  Jesus and Buddha were very similar in Alan's philosophical worldview.

Oh you lot misunderstood my topic. What I meant was that everyone on this forum tries to be the best philosopher.

The essence of peace is but beautiful music; to hear beautiful music one must learn to play beautiful notes in harmony with others

Sentient beings are leaves on the Family Tree; the branches, compassion, uniting us all; God is the roots.  To have not compassion is to cut yourself from the Tree - one will surely perish without nourishment, which comes from the roots.
