Webster10 Predicts 5

I've decided to make a thread, in which we may all address Mr. Webster10 directly, in an organized fashion. Here we shall encourage him to enlighten our naïve minds with visionary, pundit-snubbing forecasts of the future political storms, which we have yet to witness.
In the unlikely event that Webster10 cannot accurately make an exceptionally well-educated prediction, we will refer to his trusty side-kick, Miss Cleo, and her crystal ball, which was given to her by a mister R. Limbaugh, to whom it was inherited directly from Nostradamus, the great Seer of antiquity.

I just want the total points scored in the Super Bowl, please. I'll donate 50% of my winnings to Webster's charity of choice.

He only handles politics, unfortunately, though Miss Cleo may be of some assistance.

I mean I was right about virtually everything during the election. And what I was right about, the liberal-leaning establishment media was embarrassingly wrong about. I predicted the election within one electoral vote. Nobody else on this message board did that. The mainstream media overwhelmingly concurred that Hillary was going to win in a landslide. We all remember the maps that liberal think tanks were putting out that had Hillary over 400 electoral votes, the 98.8% chance of winning, Nate silver rating it 70/30. It was all a bunch of fucking horse shit. Professional pollsters colluded with the mainstream media to produce false narrative after false narrative about Hillary's lead being insurmountable, how she was so far ahead in the polls that she didn't worry about trump anymore and basically that she was going to win no matter what.
I for one was too woke to buy into that bullshit and I still refuse to. The same can't be said for many of you on this forum. As the midterms get closer you'll all be seeing my prediction.

Ok, just for shits and giggles, lets post our lifetime "batting average" for presidential predictions. This is on the honor system, and there is no prize so there isn't much reason to cheat.
There have been 6 presidential elections since i've been old enough to pay attention to politics.
I correctly predicted the winner 4 times out of 6.
The 2 that i struck out on were Bush v Kerry '04 and Trump v Clinton '16
This election in particular I was way off with my pre-season prediction of a Jeb v Hillary showdown.
Anyway, thats a .666 lifetime average.

Honestly, I wasn't very interested in politics until Obama vs McCain, and even then, I had nobody around me who knew shit about it. My mom voted for McCain... She's pretty openly racist against black people though...
Anyway, I voted for Obama, because Palin was just too ridiculous for me to take McCain seriously, and Obama seamed like the brains of the two, clearly.
I wanted Ron Paul to win in 2012, cuz I was still poorly educated on political affairs, but I wanted the government to get off everyone's back, and stop arresting my friends for dumb shit. I wanted demilitarization of our police, and a drastic change in foreign policy.
I'd still prefer Paul to Romney. Romney vs Obama, I called that right away. Romney wasn't terribly appealing. This election, I expected Clinton to win, but it was too wacky to predict. I wasn't surprised when I heard Trump won, and some part of me was relieved, while the other half of me was cringing and writhing.
So, I think I have a 2/3.

My first american vote was Obama the first time. I didn't vote at all for the second term but knew he would win again.
I thought Trump was quite likely to win, but I think I just over/underestimated the power of the establishment and expected Clinton would win somehow.

Does predicting political outcomes correctly (not the outcomes of policies, but the outcomes of elections) really mean much? I suppose it's useful if you're a betting man..

Pretty sure most people said, no matter who they were voting for, that they were really voting against the other candidate.
The exit polls were probably fake too, though.
We could sit here for hours and rattle off beliefs you have that are a direct result of you swallowing misinformation. Let us, and by us I mean you because nobody else is really buying it, pretend like youre the only one here who can correctly sift the truth out of the media.
You are literally bragging about believing something in the face of all available evidence, and you act like thats a virtue.

all available evidence suggested that hillary was going to win, you went against that.
Thats great, you beat the odds. But i hope you realize that doesnt lend credence to other opinions you have that fly in the face of evidence. Hell, it doesnt even prove the polls are wrong now because they were wrong once before.

That is true. Even during the primaries I witnessed a lot of selective poll reporting, particularly with certain demographics. "Oh bernie only has young white males." That turned out to be horseshit. And the media continued that "he doesnt have the demographics" crap against trump. Wrong again lol

I still find it funny that we're trying to predict electoral votes, rather than votes period. The electoral college is ridiculous.

The electoral system is an exact representation of a popular vote held in each state. By predicting that the Michigan and Pennsylvania polls showing Hillary was gonna win were wrong, i was also predicting the votes by extension.

It also cheapens the voters of Californians and overpowers the voters of Wyoming (who's vote is worth 3.6 californian votes).
If we want to do state by state votes, thats one thing, but have the electoral votes accurately depict the state's population. And even then, we have millions upon millions of conservatives in CA who are disenfranchised, and the same goes for liberals in Texas. We need a proportional system that makes sense if we're gonna keep this archaic garbage going. Otherwise, we're just going to see a ramp up of our partisan divide, both socially ans geographically. Do we really want our presidential hopefuls devoting the entirety of their campaigns to a handful of cities in a handful of states? Nobody wants that.

I have to disagree...if your a Democrat running for president.... you already have California = 55 electoral votes or 1/5th needed to win ...right off the bat. Framers/Founders had it right. Populous states should not determine the election...
If one disagrees with this, then you would argue that the Senate should be based on proportional representation as well?

If you actually watched the press conference trump gave, you'd know what his first 100 days are going to look like.

So because California is strongly blue AND populous, its okay if their votes are cheapened?
YES, populous states should determine the outcome more so than small states, thats representative democracy. Each state gets two senators, ok. Great. Its one way to balance the weight of Congress to ensure each state has a seat at the table. Thats one thing. But to then tell 50,000 Wyomingians that their votes are worth more than the over 50 million voters in California is idiocy.

California might lean Democrat for President lately, but we have Republican Governors all the time, and sometimes we send them off to be President. (to our ultimate chagrin)
