Alright guys in North GA! We had a really solid downpour for a few days. It's going to be prime weillii hunting this weekend!

I'm a total noob and all but seems like it's too brushy/thick/shady.

Maybe try something with pine bark covering the ground or look where water runs off near the edge of the tree line.  I've seen a direct correlation with the pine beetle infestation map and the weilii coverage map.  Just judging from photos on here, the north ga woodland finds have been where the canopy had been depleted and trees are dead. Like a huge empty brown area in the pine forest. Like I said, I'm a noob so I may not know what tf I'm saying.

I would check these areas. I can tell you they don't like the beaten path for some reason. My biggest finds were in the thick of things, old but small valleys, under briars, all within pine beetle infested areas.

I never had luck a couple days after rain. Give it 5-7 days if you want to try the woodlands, search the downed pine logs, right where the wet build-up is, where underside and ground meet.

How do you know what's infested with pine beetles? I can't tell the difference in the pines.

The official map shows Coweta County and Fayette County both as having reported Weilii findings.  I did a search and found a landscaper made a single post with this claim.  This was also his only post ever.  Can anyone else confirm findings in Coweta or Fayette County?  Both counties have perfect habitat; red georgia clay, loblolly pines and sweetgum trees everywhere.  I have been searching the woods behind my house hard and have found nothing but some honey mushrooms.

BTW, I have been lurking here for a while, but this is my first post.  Glad to be saying hello to you fine gentlemen!
