Shredded up a couple logs of loblolly while at work and taking it home tonight to introduce some spores into it. Don't expect to see much of anything this year beside mycelium growth. And even toss in a few old ones I find in future hunts
Sounds intriguing

obvi y'all are a lot more familiar with Psilocybe caerulescens on the whole, but can't you use fresh stem butts rather than spores? or a germinating spore solution if you're out of fresh butts? anything but just straight spores.

I would imagine so. I don't have fresh ones at the moment. Or stem butts. And using the spores i got just scrape them off and spread them around in the middleand Edges, after thoroughly watering them and throwing more on top of that and watering that as well. But just in the meantime until I get some fresh older specimens I'll just bury them whole.

I mean hell they had to get here at some point and the wild can't be too much more sterile than my yard I don't think it's going to be complicated. And if it doesn't work it doesn't work. Maybe something else pretty cool pops up. Only one way to find out man. That's to do it

Always man! And were Alan for them in Mexico was an old saw mill. Growing from that sawdust mounds were some beautiful fruits. Was thinking about bailing wild pine straw and casing the saw dust as well

I was thinking someone thisbyear posted they grew something by putting some spore on wood chips. And I have access to as much as I can load. So I don't think I'll be running low on a food source for them to keep eating and fruiting

They don't really like fresh mulch in my experience. The ones I have in my yard colonized the older chips and are loving it there this year. I used mycelium from patches and spores sprayed right to wood chips. The spore soaked chips are the areas fruiting this year. I've had success with both though.

I figured if used fresh ones, the chances of other spores getting to it first would decrease. Rather than using already rotten/older wood. But there's plenty i could use to experiment with.

It's all good man. Just trying to see if this would work. I've grown cubes before by taking the shit and mixing with potting soil in a 5 gal bucket. In my experience sterilization isn't completely necessary outdoors, they can fend for themselves.

agreed 100%, ime with woodlovers of other species. ovoids are crazy aggressive and pushed Armillaria right out of the scene in one of my patches.

Nice. I've heard certain species will push out others.

I also read somewhere that weilii are not good primary colonizers of wood. They like to eat it after it's started to decompose.
Bloody's project and saralove's thread the other day have reminded me that I need to get going on some weilii projects myself.

Well hey man all I got is time and i do clear cutting for a living as well as grading lots etc.. I got time and plenty of wood. And known patches. I'll make it happen. I don't give up. I will produce an outdoor patch with saw dust of loblolly pine.
