I think they are beautiful, I just wouldn't count them as an active. It's like calling Listerine a fine wine.

Also, I posted pantherina in previous years to keep the forum going during dry times. Which kept me feeling like I was adleast posting psychoactive mushrooms despite its apparent unpleasant high. Which I never plan to try.

This is from yesterday. Hunted in the woods for hours only finding a bunch of chanterelles. Stopped at a bar for a burger and a drink, decided to walk around again...

lol good analogy. Especially with dextromethorphan in robitussin being a dissociative.
I'd still give them a go.

So notice there is no Volva, that is because they come from so deep and there were only 2 in the yard today. I did not imagine the volva would be SOOOOO deep the literally half of the tall mushroom was under ground couldn't believe how deep. I will explore this again next time they grom and be careful to dig super deep. Unless it is something else you recognize.
Quoted from http://www.mushroomexpert.com/amanita_pantherina.html "As with so many North American species of Amanita, the West-Coast mushroom described and illustrated here is probably an unnamed species (or group of species) currently passing as a European species. Like the European Amanita pantherina, North American versions have brown caps that are covered with white warts"

Looks like a couple cubes and possibly some good pans in there. Make a separate ID thread.

Wtf brah... I need to go to that bar then... maybe it will bring me better luck than my regular watering hole… you said you hunt over in Cherokee Woodstock area right?… Was going to go poke around over that way today, so hopefully there are some left behind... man that soil looks so shitty in that one pic... hard ass red clay and gravel... that's not in the woods is it?… Looks more like parking lot, etc. type of habitat… Are you another landscaper as well? Great job regardless and good to have you here... TGIF...

Yeah I've spent hours walking around Cherokee County this week. Mushrooms are out everywhere though. I was standing on the sidewalk in picture 2 and 3. Make sure you fix any pine straw you throw around. My job is me sitting in front of a computer all day. Good luck!

My girlfriend found some on her lunch break today and she wasn't even hunting! She just thought "Hey, those look familiar"!

Breeg, I've seen your pics before and about crapped myself. I think we are going to the same spot if not very close. It's ok though.. There is plenty to go around!

Well… I just spent an hour or two over in Cherokee county scoping out several spots I thought would lead me to them… No luck… Lots of other mushrooms though… what is the typical exposure you guys are finding these in? Everything from full sun to full shade… i'm sure it will change, but weather on my phone is showing rain Monday through Saturday next week… I know OP said it was not going to last, but if the rain continues will we keep seeing flushes?

Unless they are under pine straw, in my experience they have always been in spots that stay shady most of the day, but do see a little sunshine at some point. Also they typically surround areas that have puddles or stay really soggy for a few days after the rains. My patches usually are in full swing about 3 days after those puddles dry up.
Here are a couple of pics from today. I think this will be the last of them from my patches until we get some more rain.
