How much did you drop on it if you don’t mind me asking?
Hey y’all... hope all is well... just catching up on the thread... this weather is nuts...
What’s up Doc... how’s married life?... I found the Life on eBay for about $40... it’s so cool and illustrations are fantastic... it’s in great condition... just keep checking and one will pop up I’m sure...took me a while to find one... pretty cool coffee table mag and conversation starter...
Guess things are done for now, and the start of the 2018 Tread is around the corner... Hoping to see a meter box find by Phish or someone here soon...
What a great enlightening special year it was... I learned so much... still have a heavy heart about what happened to Cham... sucks... Lewp or anyone know if he’s ok?... was also curious about Vex (I think) and others that may have visited Weiliantis as well... hope everyone is ok and the heat goes away from there... feel free to PM me...
Take care fellas and best wishes in 2018...

So is there going to be a 2018 thread soon. Also it looks like it’s going to be raining and in the 70’s all next week, do you think it would be worth looking to see if any pop up

Been meaning to stop in here.
I had a great dream last night. Was finding nothing but chickens and chants, along with tons of other ultra-colorful shit that doesn't even exist in real life. In my experience, these dreams sometimes mean good times ahead.
Also, not active, but here's something (Galerina?) that I saw last week. For Galerina, I'd expect to see a ring on some of them though.

Anyway, it's been one hell of a stressful winter, so it'll be nice to get back out there. It's nice to walk around, but it's not the same without all the mushrooms out.
Hope all you boys are having a good winter.

Just piles of work shit man.
Also, check this out guys: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24964133
GA senator Curt Thompson (Dem, Tucker) is proposing a tree legalization bill. He did the same last year, and it didn't work out. But now there is new hope!
There's still the huge obstacle of the GA populace approving it, but the least we can do now is write our senators and representatives.

Thanks for posting this wryans.
Just got the book today, and excited to read through it. It was published last year (2017) out of UGA. They made a decent attempt at addressing taxonomy and naming. I'm excited about the purchase even though it's not a cheap book. It's listed a reference guide, but the intro includes discussion about scientific classification and fungi's place, an overview of fungi, reproduction of fungi, different types of fungi, mushroom toxins, medicinal properties, and information about collecting and identifying mushrooms that includes sections on staining and microscopy. There's a morphology guide and keys, and then the rest of the book is dedicated to pictures and notes on different species. The pictures are great. The notes are are hit or miss from what I can tell.
The way the field guide portion of the book is organized seems tedious, I haven't read through it all, but it seems like there's a ton of neat information tucked into the grouping introductions.
The "magic mushroom" section was disappointing, but I would probably be hard to please. There's a key and then entries for cubensis, caerulescens, and ovoids. Pan pap and pan semiovatus are the only pans given entries. There's a warning about G. marginata right after the magics. Here's a shot of the "magic" key:

Overall I would say it's geared more towards the beginner or intermediate. It's well cited and has some very nice pictures. Like I said I was pleased with the purchase. I still have a lot to read. If you have the means or live in the Southern Appalachians I would recommend it.
