I notice quite a few of you are just pulling them out of the ground...
If I ever do that then I cut the stem butts off(part with dirt) and bury them somewhere for the sake of spreading mycelium. Not saying you should or have to, just my input.

I've discussed covert bermuda operations before, for some trespassers there simply isn't time to kneel and snip.
In regards to mycelium disposal... I've been picking the same surburban lawns for over a decade. Generally, I gotta get in and out... It's never hurt my patches.

2-3 days is the norm as stated above, however in one area I've noticed its taking around 1-2 weeks from pin to when the cap to opens up. I've also noticed that someone else knows this patch as they suddenly disappear once opened up! Hope they're enjoying them
These sort of finds and habitat shots just trip me out! Like what the hell made you guys look there! Just incredible. I need to find my first woodland/wood edge line types and once I SEE it, it will all make sense.

Hey Georgia friends. I just went for a walk in the Triangle area in NC and stumbled across these. I've hunted ovoids in Ohio for years, but I don't know my southern actives well enough to eat them comfortably. These appear to be active, and they look a lot like ovoids to my eye. They have that slightly sweet, musky smell I associate with actives and ovoids in particular.Spore print is dark - maybe a hint of purple? They aren't really bruising blue in an obvious way. It seems to be way out of the P. Weilii range - is that what I have here?

Thanks. The caps didn't seem scurfy/hairy to me at all. I'm thinking that the hairs washed off in the recent rain. And the obvious lack of blueing should have been a clue.

Nice finds people!
I've still been seeing them left and right.
Here is a habitat shot if any of you want an idea of what a disturbed forest trail spot can look like. This spot is in Gwinnett county in Loganville.

Also here is a spot that is in Forsyth county in Cumming! Classic pine trees and bermuda grass , although there are many sweetgums here too. (There is also a nearby church with our beloved alien saucers at the tree line.)

Here are me and my buddies finds from the past couple of days. It's still on , however most of these are as old as sliced bread.

Sweet finds! I went and checked my spot today and saw a few baby ones. I'm gonna go back in a few days and harvest them. They where all about this size: I picked these two just to have a little early microdose in the morning lol.

One of my co-workers bought the vacant house that used to be one of ya'lls huntin' grounds. Some badass ballsy bastards even knocked on the door for permission to hunt in the dark for a 'research project.' Love it.

Micro?! haha
I was blessed with a new patch today. Lots of small ones and pins. Took a handful, left the rest. How probable is it that if I snip the end bits off the stems and plant them, that I could potentially start a patch?

Thanks for the inspiration to go hunting guys. Its been about 3-4 years...

Glad to see you having luck Forsyth... how'd your morning go lol?... cool pics Guru... great job and details Buddy... that should be helpful to a lot of folks... I hear ya Humble... just to chime in on the snipping vs ripping out the mushrooms... I snip when there's time, but rip'em if I'm feeling eyes on me... I have planted all the lil butts I've cut off when cleaning them... also, I put all of the debris, etc. I collect during cleaning back into the landscape beds around my house... I've been trying different methods with the spore prints... everything from placing the prints directly on top of the soil and covering with mulch, leaves, pinestraw... to making a slurry with shredded up paper prints....straining... putting the violet liquid in a squirt bottle and applying all over my yard... scattering the leftover paper shreds in the beds too... maybe next year the lil butts ends or in 2-3 years the spores... will start to pop... I believe Phish had some luck doing this around my neck of the woods, so maybe it will work for me... hopefully the hard frost this coming Sunday nite won't put an end to this dream season... keep up the hard work fellas... and just keep walking and looking...

Very nice. Habitat pics are so much nicer to look at than haul shots (and more useful).
