Sorry bloodcarcass, I did not know the purpose of this thread vs the ID thread.  If "people keep" doing something, it's probably because it isn't clear to them.

Also, I was under the impression this entire site was about actives - since the top of every page says "magic mushrooms demystified".    I also thought there was a chance the first picture I posted may be active.

Is this thread just for general discussion of actives in GA?  Or also IDing mushrooms in GA you think may be active?

All above aside, I appreciate the help relic!

Thus thread is for confirmed actives only. This site can be confusing at times. Usually you'll make a separate thread for an ID request, then if it's confirmed active, you can put it in GA "ACTIVES" 2017. Other than that it's not a big deal. Just we Georgians get excited when this thread gets a new post, so the disappointment is bigger when someone wanders into the wrong thread. But don't sweat it, welcome to the forum fellow Georgia hunter!!

Not to be an ass but it clearly states "GA Actives" not GA mushrooms.  For actives and discussing active mushrooms.  I would imagine it'd be common sense.  But not everyone has that these days

Why would you assume old patches are dead?

Checked two of my hottest spots when I first got back in November, not a damn thing. I actually went jogging this morning to another spot that's been known to fruit a bit earlier than the others, found these instead :/

They definitely look pretty potent. Wood chip bed I made and spread year before last. All I did was print about twenty caps on foil. I then scraped the prints off into distilled water. Then I just used a spray bottle and sprayed the shit out of the mulch. Last spring they came up. I've been getting flushes in different spots ever since. Just that easy. I did let the wood chips sit one season before I spread them

Going to do the same this year but at different spots I think would be really good. You can pick spots that are easily accessible too and make ur own patches

Those look pretty dope! Blue caps are really nice. Yea I have a few potentials, but I was waiting on great weather to check it out. Don't have a dog anymore so it's a bit difficult to go unnoticed lol

So just let people notice you. I just have my phone out taking pictures all the time when I hunt in public, people will stop and ask me about it sometimes and I'll say I'm taking nature pics, they've been totally chill about it 999 out of 1000 times. If you act like you're doing something wrong it will come off that way. Act entitled to do what you're doing and you'll be fine.

seriously tho I usually go out early if I do hunt. And never really during the weekend, so there's never really too many people around. That's the problem with searching for new spots, your head is buried to the ground. Like I said I have a few potentials so let's hope I strike gold

My first 2 years of hunting I acted like I was stealing the Declaration of Independence, so I definitely feel you on that.

you're not doing anything wrong until you find and harvest known active mushrooms, so save the fast heartbeats until you get to that point, looking isn't a crime.
