Could be dry air, or frequent drying out. What is the humidity? Although the caps do look fuzzy, could be infection.

The fuzziness could also be itself colonizing or germinating on a piece of damaged tissue.

It's probably some sort of bacteria causing the discoloring. Does it smell gross like it's rotting?

Humidity maintained at 88%. Smells totally normal.
What seems like fuzz in the picture is more like a powder. It easily rubs off, but goes away as the mushrooms mature. It seems like a normal thing to me.
The other bags in the same room have normal mushrooms. It's just this one bag that's doing it. I've had other mushrooms do this but to a much milder degree.
This is the second flush for this bag, and I did kind of a hack job getting the first flush off. The holes in the plastic are now bigger than they should be, and the plastic has pulled away from the straw/myc around the holes. I taped things up as best I could, but I'm wondering if too much air is getting in these holes and drying out the sub, thus the discolored mushrooms. What do you think?
Thanks.

Any time I got yellowing caps was when my humidity either wasn't enough or fluctuated too much. Is the brown tissue a bit tougher feeling than the rest of the cap? Do you think the white fluff is spore?
If you cant figure out whats wrong I would just abandon that bag.

Yeah that looks like something is going on other than just dryness, I'd bury that block.

I picked those mushrooms last night to get rid of them and they did feel a little tough. More rubbery or denser than normal. But the whole thing, not just the brown part. Also weird was that a big chunk of straw/myc came off with each clump that I picked that was really spongy and squishy. No smell or anything, just felt dried out. Never had that before either.
I don't think the white fluff is spore. It's there when the mushrooms are really small and goes away as they mature. I don't know what it is, but it disappears and never causes a problem.
I've only been at this for 6 months or so and thought maybe this brown was a classic sign of something I hadn't run into yet. It doesn't sound like it is though. The bag is now in the compost pile. That sounds like the best thing to do with it.
Thanks a lot for your input.

I think it's Verticillium..Common. If it is, its kind of nasty. I've had it and you have to clean everything. Total shutdown. Air circulation and humidity are factors..Can be spread from other crops/mushrooms, insects.

Could be! I googled some pictures and I didn't find any with oysters, but what I did find seemed very similar. The color was exactly the same, especially on the younger mushrooms. I read that you can test by seeing if it fizzes when you put hydrogen peroxide on it, so I did that and definitely got some fizz. Not much, but some.
Everything else in the room seems fine, at least for now. Thanks for your input!
