 Cut brf cakes in half.

Well guys. I have made a bunch of brf cakes. They were taking forever to colonize. And the tops were starting to pin. The first ine that pinned i took out completely and put it in the fc. But i have like 4 others that this is happening to. So i decided to cut them in half. And put the top half that was pinning into the fc. And the other half i left in the jars to finish colonizing in my tit. Was this a good idea? Sorry of offend people with my ignorance. With the bottom half finish?

Definitely not a good idea it will let contams up the ass in so it could finish colonizing but they could also get trich or bacteria before they finish cause you let them in when you opened the jars before full colonization
Next time rule of thumb 100% colonization before you birth the cakes the cake might not be fully colonized inside since the bottoms not either meaning the already birthed cakes have a chance at contamination aswell

 they will pretty much definitely all contam. Did you do any of this in an SAB did you sterilise any of the tools? Even if you did that you will be extremely lucky if you dont get contams.

Im a lucky kinda guy. And yes i sterilized my knife and whatnot. I only did it to 3 cakes. Still have a few left.

Those uncolonized portions are damn near guaranteed to go funky.
Once your spores germinated if it took more than a couple weeks to fully colonize then I would bet you have something wrong with your grow.

That is a bad idea.
If the mycelium isnt 100 percent colonized it will more than likely get contaminated when put back in the jar.
Early pinning such as that usually means contam anyway.
Id bury them outside and hope they come up (Withe horse manure)

Yeah. Tons of all that around here. This is my first grow. Didnt wanna do hard stuff just yet. Whats better? Horse or cow? Cows in top pasture, horses in bottom. I was trying get some lc from this. Then off to bulk grow.

i like hpoo. hpoo mixed with cpoo is awesome too. havent added straw.
its as easy as boiling water for 2 hrs.
skip the LC. do agar. use a grain to spawn to all the shit. become a pasteurizing machine

Thats the plan. Agar seems a bit much for me though. Im just confused as to casing layer/sub layer. 2 separate things? Just havent done the resurch yet as to how to make them.

Next time try the proper jars..if ya ever have to birth early simply rinse the uncolonized spots off gently under the faucet

Thanks for advice my friends. And im hoping on no mold. Im in a basement. And have a de-humidifier that runs 24/7 in here. It stands about hip high. Im hoping that this kills most of the random fungi that float around. And therfore makes contams a little harder. But what do i know? Ill check out rrs video buddy. He seems to know his shit. (Puns for days) the rack figured would help with ae. And fc is a little experiment. We shall see.

They will mold eventually but hopefully not before a couple fruits and a dehumidifier wont stop the spores at all

The dehumidifier was put here to stop mold... And it worked.. But i do hope i get some fruits. Fingers crossed.

It stops mold by removing humidity so the spores cant germinate the second those spores hit a wet cake they have enough moisture to germinate.. if your house is humid mold can grow if your fruiting chamber is humid mold can grow in there . The dehumidifier dosent remove spores it removes moisture so the spores dont grow..

Exactly basements are full of spores. And the cakes being cut makes them vunerable and yea the dehumidifier will keep colonies of trich and whatever else from growing and sporulating making the problem worse i was just stating that it dosent get rid of the spores

I guess im winging it a little much? But if you saw how i inoculated them, you would sware to contams. I have opened my jars quite a few times to smell them. Not 1 sign of contams yet. Im hoping my luck holdes.

did you inoculate with those lids???
if so the GE would cause the stalling for sure.
and the I am not sure but uneven disbursement of the spores with a lid like that might play a part.
All thats needed is 4 small inoc points and an airy layer of verm on top the sub in the jars

I pulled those out and,Well it already has a mushroom coming from one of them. I have about 8 visable pins this morning. 4 on left are top of cakes. 4 on right are the bottoms i let sit for a few more days. Pins on both. Im stoked.

Guys. You were right. I was wrong. Found some contams on one of my cakes. I threw it out. But all my other cakes are doing great. Huge pin sets. actually curious if too many pins are bad? Some of them are overlapping. And constricting some of others. Let me know what you think.

Don't sweat it your mushrooms know how many pins they can handle, worse case some abort but it's no biggie

I know this shroom is a freak. But its my first grow, and agar just seems overwhelming right now. Im gonna spore print it for sure. Its just a route i havent even considered at this point. Once i get a few more under my belt. Ill try it out.
