They're gonna be very nice.. please do update.. you'll notice a substantial amount of water is missing from that. They retain a lot. The one on the left is gonna bust a fat nut on a huge cluster I hope you learn agar and culture work. Be a very nice tissue sample to get some canopies going in other tubs. It's so pretty you've done a great job. A big fat bouquet is gonna come off that.

Mushrooms that have been deprived of water while fruiting and then given tons can sometimes make a few look all sorts of weird. It's just from rapid growth. So if they look retarded on some spots don't worry. And if some of those sporulate and you find purple-black in there tomorrow don't freak out either.. sometimes a good soak will make them drop their veils early.

If you use the lids next time instead of foil, you'll eliminate a contamination vector - standing water in a fruiting chamber - and help the "casing layer" of the cake give off a better pinset. The closest you can get the cake to the edge of, without touching the perlite, gives constant waves of passive air the opportunity to get into every nook and crannie of the verm. Just make sure the lid is upside down. It helps, also, if your sgfc is next to a wall or a fan is blowing and part of the chamber performs different than the other. I had to move cakes in this one a row back (horizontally) every 3 days or they'd dry out. Also a sgfc loses efficiency and efficacy the bigger you get. I'd never make one bigger than half the size of this.
Hope some of this helps.

Hell yeah man, that was motivating! I'm actually in the process of gathering the supplies for doing my first LC, while also hunting agar down at local retail stores, though I may have to order some. Either way, I will definitely update and look forward to harvesting these bad boys. I will definitely get a tissue sample as well. However, you lost me with "get some canopies going in other tubs" so feel free to elaborate on that or even send me a PM! This is my first grow and I am absolutely fascinated with this practice now. I am also working on my first monotub grow using Frank's 12 Steps to Shrooms (a spore-to-shroom bulk tek for beginners)

Ohh.. canopies are when the pinset is so tight and even that when the mushrooms come up in your tub so well that you can't see the bottom. Like the canopy of the rain forest. Cloning tissue of big fruits and clusters and potent fruits is how you figure out to make dank mushrooms with a high bioefficiency (BE), or how many mushrooms you get per quart of spawn.
Before you do LC and knock up a bunch of grain with potentially contaminated spores, clean it up on agar and make sure bacteria isn't hitching a ride.
You can do blender less liquid inoculant which is just as easy.. get a clean plate of agar and drop into a sterile jar of water and shake. Then pour all day long knowing that nothing but mycelium and nutrients are in your work.

Damn this is some dank advice! I follow you, but if you wouldn't mind PM'ing me with this in a little more detail. I feel like I could learn a lot from you

There are better people here than me haha. I just pick wild actives and play with cakes and do culture work on the side. Something about having a couple different species on agar just in case feels good I dunno haha. You can keep bumping this thread with updates if you don't have a grow log. Sometimes people start them in their journals and have them moved when all is said and done. When I get high I just love talking about mushrooms .. in my signature there's a link for AMU Q&A. It's an ongoing Q&A thread that people who have a quick question or two can drop in. They are good knowledgeable folks. And sorry no I don't do PMs since I think all grow advice should be public. You can revisit your thread by going up on the top left to Threads, or in the far bottom left of a thread there's a link to toggle it as fsvorite. It'll show up when you login at your account screen.
