Found these in a native oak and other hard woods meadow. Substrate was natural mulch and decayed detritus. Yellow tan pileus up to 7". Gills attached. Pileus upturned trumpet on some and/ or aged. 2-3 inch yellowish/white stipe. .5-1 " thick.

Only issue is hollow stipes or they could have been eaten out by bugs or rotten.
Could not get and ID working through Arora's mentioned look a likes.

These were growing in the same area. Thought the colors were striking. Ideas.

1) Lactarius alnicola, chanterelles don't have true gills.
2) Another Lactarius. What color is the latex? What do they smell like? Maybe L. rufulus but I'm not sure.

I smelled faint maple. Since I did not think to snap the stem "like chalk",  I also did  not check for latex. Now I must go back.....a beautiful bike ride. A shameless pic of a sexy steel SS CX bike above too.

Now that I think about it my hands had a viscous substance on them handling the former....alnicola.

Thanks again Ran-D!
