Building a flow hood...help

So I have been researching how to make a flow hood and while searching for a HEPA filter I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/A32-ENVIRCO-HEPA-AIR-PURIFIER-FILTER-2-039-x-4-039-airflow-FAN-BLOWER-115V-69406001-/122308254822?
If the link doesn't work for some reason, it is a HEPA filter with attached blower. Is there something I am not understanding? Because it seems like this is basically a flow hood, it just isn't housed in anything. Oh wise ones aid me!

Have you done a simple search and read 2-5 hours? Until then you will not understand. Also the knowledge you seek cannot be just told to you. You must learn it.

Yes I've been reading about this for weeks. I understand the mechanics, I am asking about this particular unit because it seems it would save me the trouble of matching a blower to a filter. I am pretty sure that someone who knows could say, yes that is all you need, or no that unit is insufficient.

That would save you some time. ALTHOUGH you could get a pretty good setup for a lot cheaper if you do some work and designing on your end.
Ive seen some filters going for $40 on ebay a long time ago. And you could get a nice blower for $50 or less. Just gotta make a box out of some wood. I plan on building my own at some point when I get the funds.

Yeah, I've been keeping up on what is for sale and the total cost once assembled is only about $50-100 less than this unit. That is based on the average for this size filter ~$100-$150, and a blower ~ $60. I haven't seen any suitable filters for less than $60 and those are typically 12" x12"

Yes this should work as a flow hood. there has been some discussion about how large the plenum (the box part essentially) has to be in order to get truly laminar flow, but I have seen several users post flowhoods with very small plenums and they say they work fine for them.

Sweet.
I also see that you have Elm oyster on your trade list. I have that species, it came from the woods here in N.C. If you are still on the lookout for it I would be down to trade.
