Lying

I propose to spend some time lying as little as possible.
If reality is a mirror, perhaps people will treat me the same and I might see things more clearly - how they really are as opposed to a judgement or opinion based on inaccurate information.
Whilst there is a definite philosophical discussion here surrounding what is real and what isn't (everything is an interpretation and nothing is true) I'm more centred on the potential for this to change my reality.
Discuss ... ?

An admirable objective if indeed we do actually 'get what we give', but can we persevere thru the '7 generations' it might take to clear up our karmic baggage as it were?

Karma is more clearly understood as our past conditioning, If I may over simplify, what comes around goes around is a good story for the babes in terms of desirable behavior etc and is certainly true to the extent that if we all are practicing a similar morality in real time, we can watch it happen at times... but that is not always the case, so the actuality of it is more complex.
Lying has its place , certainly - for good and bad. Abusing its power is a sad thing though, because its the user who ends up confused and clarity becomes clouded...and the one receiving the lie may also suffer because they act upon unreal facts and stories.
Like wise one may gain from acting upon a lie that is told with the intent or motive to lead one away from contact with something that may cause suffering to the individual - ie. around the campfire we tell our children there is a boogeyman in the forests - not because we mean to lie, but they dont know better for they are innocent and ignorant , without experience... because if they went out in the woods at night they may come into contact with danger or w to orse.
I say experiment with it (that is, being honest or more honest or the opposite) a tiny bit and find out for yourself, just be heedful so you do not miss the results and causes/effects. Deception is sometimes heartbreaking but we live and learn to see through being tricked especially if it is for our greater good.

It might be difficult to overcome the leverage of past conditioning if it means giving up all future 'spoils-of-war'.

I am having some difficulties with this and am finding it best to say nothing at all which I suppose is half way there ...
