The Hunt for Panaeolus cyanescens

Is it true that the more blue a P. cyanescens is, the more potent it is?  These are from the Philippines, elevation 600 meters, temperature 25 deg C.

It's the result of oxidisation of psilocin. Psilocybin and baeocystin are also active but do not turn blue, so if a mushroom has higher amounts of those, it could still be potent.

Obviously if you see lots of blue, it's an indicator of high psilocin content, but conversely, oxidation (oxidisation?) over a longer period is associated with a fall in potency, although by this time the bluing has often faded entirely.

So in conclusion, yes, I'd say there's typical correlation between the intensity of the bluing and the level of psilocin.
