Interesting Bay Area finds
    #24011204 - 01/15/17 01:16 AM (7 years, 15 days ago)

This is a collection of some pretty and unusual mushrooms I have seen around the Bay this fall/winter.  IDs would be great if possible, for informational purposes.

#1: Some sort of bird's nest fungus

#2: I thought it was a lawn decoration at first!

#3: Growing in a semicircle around a pine tree

#4: These were out by the hundreds in the fall

#5: What the heck is this thing?

#6: Blooms and then rots repeatedly on the base of a live tree

#7: Looks like a fungus growing on a fungus- what is this?

#8: I've stumbled across these a few times recently.

#9: Stump clump

#10: It was fuzzy

#11: Metallic mushrooms!

#12: Red dots

I've seen #11 too, they're a trip. (To look at of course)

That was my original thought, but I wasn't sure due to the weird shape.  All the other muscarias I have seen had the classic "Mario mushroom" look.

People confuse those for morels?  Oh man...

#4 looks like Bolbitius Titubans

Might be my favorite mushroom name to date

Ive seen a couple mutated morels before in one of my patches.  As for the Muscaria those white warts are always a dead give away.  Ive seen some with barely any too looking just like those covered in them.  Theyre easily knocked off by animals, wind etc...
