Starving the Cakes
    #24011109 - 01/14/17 11:59 PM (7 years, 16 days ago)

Okay, so I must say that pinning triggers seem to be where all the pain and suffering is at when people say growing mushrooms can be hell.  Either there is too much mist or too little, most likely too much in the case below.  After taking ComeBackKids advice and putting it to use for the first round of BRF cakes that were too dry, and letting them soak up that mist with some bottom watering (skipped the re-dunk) they had a very very nice first flush.  Thanks for that advice!

However round 2 and 3 proved to be a challenge.

2nd Flush:  Waited about 48 hours to dry out the cakes before doing another dunk.  Come back to the 2nd flush already starting and about an inch off the cakes, so figure wtf, bottom water and let it fruit.

3rd Flush: Waited 24 hours this time to dry out before the dunk and roll.  No Pins this time before the dunk, so dunked and rolled.  Gave it about 1.5 weeks, no pins.  Decided fuck it, more fresh cakes are coming anyways, tossed it in leftovers bin and didn't bother to clean it out. No holes cept the thin gaps around the lid, and 3 days later boom all cakes were pinning when I walked by the bin.

Had they 3rd flush been tended to, probably would have been a hell of a 3rd flush, but still not bad.

Onto the question at hand though... Do you have to neglect these fuckers to get them to pin?  It seems that giving them a good amount of water seems to work well if you immediately CUT THEM OFF, and resort to only FAE and bottom watering AND misting after they start pinning.

This is solely based off the fact that a steady supply of misting and FAE has not resulted in pinning.  Lighting has remained the same, 5k 12h on 12h off.

Has anyone else experienced this?
