Greeting to all! Such an incredible community thank you for Being. Id like to share my latest work and share some interesting data.
Seee I live in a high altitude city 12,000 feet. I started with agar. I live in a country with no mushroom culture businesses, and the only mushroom are white button mushroom, however I met a foreigner who was growing greys, so I cloned a couple an obtained a nice culture .
First of all I was strerilizing agar with one of those chinese 11,6psi pressure cookers. I had practically no problems working in a glove box. Moldsand contams simply do not attack here like they normally do, this may also be due to the dry climate. You can leave milk out all day and it still tastes like it came out of the fridge, people sell raw meat and fish on the street, nothing hardly spoils Like one would expect. Food also takes longer to cook, lower boiling temperature lik 196F not sure but I know its less. Eventually had the oppurtunity to have someone bring me a 23qt15psipresto. I thought grains would be my downfall, but after a couple of fails, I learned how to properly prepare them, hydrated but not wet, with a gypsum soak and filtres that stay dry. Since then i sterilize 90 min like eveyone else and have no problems with bacteria. i havent done gtg yet, but the latesr jars look so nice and clean, I use food grade wheat Anyway in my city they have a habit of cutting lotsa trees and leave patches of sawdust on the ground so here is my free bulk substrate

i also learned how to pasteurizer this with fails that involved oven teks and green mold everywhere. No, the way i did is hydrate, a bit wet, mixed with 10%gypsum, i packed it into a large can and in my large pot double boiler style, approx150 F for 90 min. When i dump it out the excess water evaporate as it cools and then i mix it with spawn ,for my experimental logs(since I am still learning), were with 1 jar of spawn made with 150 g wheat, and approx400g dry weight of eucalyptus of sawdust, after it was thorougjly mixed i packed in as tight as possible in nylon tuves that I put together resulting in a log about 12-14 inches long and 3-4 inches in diameter.

Growing them was a learning process as well, the fresh air, cool temps, light and watering but here i finally learne a bit
And the same log from the other side

That first flush was 160 grams. Now maybe ill try with larger logs
Heres my fruiting chamber

Since then ive doubled the depthspace inside the fruiting chamber, there are a coupleof holes in the windows and the humifies are on a timer, five min every half hour, at night a bit less. I want to add more ventilation, some sort of temp control for hot afternoons, been using frozen bottles. I also want automatic misters since I observed these sawdust logs dry out quickly and abort their mushrooms
Well thanks for reading Comments and recomendations are appreciated

Very good nice first grow! You might want to try leaving the plastic on to fruit. Just cut 4-5 X in the plastic. They won't dry out as fast.

Thanks for the advice , does leavinv the plastic affect the temperature of the log? Ive felt the insulative properties of plastic, and sunny fternoons here the temp reach high 70s, Also so that the log can absorb water from manual watering, I feel like the inital moisture level of the log during colonization wouldnt have been enough to grow many mushrooms, do logs usually absorb enough water from its environment through the holes in the plastic? Or are they supposed to already have enough water in the substrate for all the mushrooms ?

Straw can hold 65% moisture. There should be enough water in the log to maintain fruits , just mist away like your doing oysters can take 90% humidity. I would not put logs in direct sunlight they will cook just bright light.

Heloo again felt like sharing mmy attempts at growing outdoors a large pot of sawdust, what atenpts??? After innoculating You aint gotta do nuttin!! Jahaha, i lift the plastic one day during a rainy cool50-60F week, and wowee!

I only harvested the large clustrr , though i couldnt get the whole thing off in on piece and trimming the bits if wood stuck all over was a bit more work than the indoor logs

Didnt weigh it but it feels at least 1/2 pound
Aint it just a lovely strain?

Looks fantastic! Score!!!! on the free substrate- looks like those oysters tear through that eucalyptus! How do you regulate fresh air exchange with your FC? I see the two coolmists for rH- should be sufficient for that size even with your dry climate (and your fruits definitely look like they get the perfect humidity!). Welcome- and keep us updated!

Cool thread, i want to try outdoor pots of sawdust/woodchips. I found tons of free chips in my area and something like that would work perfectly for me

Hi again and thanks for commenting, For regulating fae, I increased the size of my fc, the plastic has slits everywhere , I broke a hole in the corner of a couple of the window panes and a ventilator adjusted to half the potency of its lowest setting, a hardly noticable breeze, and the temperature cools a few degree when its used with the ultrasonics which is good for sunny afternoons, I am still tweaking it , i used to have puddles, now with the extra fae and open space rh feels low, I will attempt adding trays of perlite or most likely some perlite substitute like pebbles (havent found perlite). Eventually what I would like is some sort of automated misting system, im thinking of looking into reptile misting systems or better learning how to fabricate my own customized automated misters

Regarding growing in pots, its basically a monotub with a white plastic partially covering it,in a mostly shaded cool area, obviously it would only work outside, but the fruits are superior, color shape texture density, today i harvested the other clusters that matured

This was 200grams , yesterdsays harvest from the pot was 350g,
Thanks for your comments, and advice or ideas
