Best websites/videos to learn guitar?

I'm suffering from too much is not enough right now. There are thousands of websites and youtube videos about learning guitar and it's overwhelming...
Which is the best? Which should I pick? Which do you use?
I rented a guitar for a week and I'm having fun. I taught myself the beginning of Now That Were Dead from Metallica!

Download yousician.
App for laptop, 30 minutes free every day.
Shows tab and a bouncing beat counter and you play along and it tells you if you are behind or in front of the beat of right on the money.
Starts from beginner too.

It's fun to start learning some songs right away, so check out Marty Schwartz on you tube. He shows exactly how to play different songs, note for note. Every thing from Metallica to CSNY, blues, jazz, county, metal, pop.
Also check out this website, Absolue Fretboard Mastery. Steve Stine is concise and to the point and without being overly enthusiastic, you can tell he's super passionate about the guitar and teaching other people to play. Awesome stuff! https://www.lessonface.com/absolute-fretboard-mastery-steve-stine

There was a decent one I saw a few years back which was very realistic and touched on things like ear training in a practical matter
Think it was called justinguitar.com or some such
Get yourself a teacher though, you'll be happy that you did

I seemed to learn the most, the fastest, with a teacher. Then, after a couple lessons, it's just practice practice practice. I check in with him from time to time when I seem to plateau.
Learn basic chords, and practice transitions between them.

If you want to learn guitar you're going to need your own. You can pick up half decent acoustics and electrics for $200 or less if you look around. And I mean online, with reviews and such..
When I first started out my dad bought me a $140 Silvertone Revolver. Not the worst guitar but the action is kinda high. I was recommended a site called fretjam and it worked out pretty well I'd say. My other resources were youtube videos like justinguitar and other random ones. Ultimate guitar can be a good resource as well depending on what you're looking for.
I'd start with chords and then learn notes. Know every note but just learn the ones on the fret markers to begin with. Try and hear the notes, understand them and learn them. You wanna noodle a lot, more once you learn every little thing. Learn songs but not just songs, riffs and licks and progressions, everything that catches your ear. Learn warmups and exercises. Once you have a general idea of improving finger independence, endurance, and dexterity, make up your own exercises because it's just more fun. Put rhythm to it, for your enjoyment. Scales apply to warmups as well, know your pentatonic and blues scale.
Be comfortable making random noise and try to find the 'art' in it. Appreciating your worst effort, even if it's facetious, is a good road to appreciating your real and positive gains. Once you start moving on learn the relationship with keys, modes, progressions, chords - your scales. If you're in E ionian/major ok, you look at your fretboard and see the modes/major scale. Find every position of E with the modes. You've got the D shape E at fret 2, C and A shape root beginning at 7, G at 12. You're now in the key of E. Understand the relationship between chords and the notes within them, and how they relate to playing scales, lead, and staying in key.
After that you're getting in to more advanced theory. There's 6 months of guitar lessons for you.
You're welcome.

I found the best way to learn is just watch youtube videos of the pro's that you like best and emulate them. Look at their hands and fingering with close detail and emulate. Emulate their posture. You can actually see exactly what they are doing in alot of videos and copy on your own guitar. It's more simple than what meets the eye.
Read tabs of the songs you like. Read lots of tabs, memorize, keep at it. Guitar is one of the easiest instruments to play. Websites are a waste of time. Ive been playing classical guitar for almost 10 years.
When you buy a guitar, don't ever buy a brand new guitar from the store, ever. Only buy used guitars. Also don't buy a stupid guitar.
Last of all, if you want to get good at guitar; you have to really fucking want it. Like, if guitar isn't on your mind all the time and you don't desperately want to be pro, then you will never get really good at guitar.

My advice to u is to just learn to play a bunch of ur favorite songs and work ur way up from there.
Im sure u know how to read simple guitar tabs by now?..
Also learn the basic chords like C, A, am, dm, etc, etc..
The key is to get ur fingers and stuff used to the chords n stuff.. U can practice just by playing random notes on ur guitar, what ur essentially trying to do in the beggining is to get ur hands and fingers used to the guitar n stuff.

I like looking at either Tabs if I'm learning melodies, or just chords.
If you like Metallica and Rock/Metal then learning Minor Pentatonic and Blues Scales is a good way to get your ear trained to hearing how melodies are created. You can noodle around with those scales and learn how to improvise and just learn in general how to make cool sounds on the guitar.
Find Backing Tracks on Youtube and learn whatever scale goes with it - If it's blues, play a blues scale - If it's Rock or Metal, then Major or Minor Pentatonic scale (most likely - or blues)
Just play the scale over the song or track and mess around with the notes and you'll learn how to play lead pretty well.

What kind of guitar is it, and what kind of music do you enjoy listening to / are attempting to play?
Look up Marty Friedman on youtube if you're interested in taking a look at someone describing advanced soloing techniques. Obv not a place to start, but it's still interesting once you've got your bearings on the instrument, as a way to think of where you could go with it some day.

For 6 days, that's awesome, Patlal. You probably have a natural affinity for fretted string instruments if it only took 6 days to play through that whole song with the right rhythm and in tune.
There are probably quite a few nuances of technique which you haven't picked up on in Kirk's playing, but getting the chords down is a great start!
Just wanted to say that that is probably my favorite Eric Johnson performance. He's a phenomenal guitarist... but Patlal hold off on Cliffs of Dover for at least a few years :P

Op, fuck All that. What you need to do from the very begenning is get comfortable. Get familar. The guitar is now an extention of you. Focus on technique. Once you get finger position down move onto chords. Start with just a few. Repetition. Switch between chords until it is second nature. Once that is complete, move onto more techniques like hammer ons and pull offs. Learn tablature. All that combined should make all learning from that point on fairly easy.
