After they repealed resolution S. Con.Res. 3, nulling the tax for not having insurance, does that mean I will not be penalized this tax season for not having insurance the last half of 2016?

The rest of us with insurance will be penalized if you get sick or injured and require medical assistance.

Lol, I will have insurance again in a couple weeks, I just went without it for six months. 3 months while I hung out having fun, three months while I waited to become eligible for insurance thru work.
I was just wondering if anyone more familiar with tax laws would know whether or not the repeal of the resolution is an instant law change, or if the penalties would remain in effect for this tax season.
And if what you are saying is true sweeper, then I'm sure you've seen drastic reductions in your overall health care costs in the last few years, due to more people than ever being insured right? Its really nice having our premiums and deductibles so low now. Government did so many great things with healthcare for the people.
I know my Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance went up about 20% over the last 3 years, but thats most likely the exception in this case.

O'care lowered health insurance costs for millions of people, it raised deductibles for millions more, but we aren't supposed to talk about that...

So what is the answer on this. Fuck insurance. And fuck them saying I'm sposed to have it. I just don't wanna pay the goddamn penalty/tax.
Cheers

Don't care about the political idealism debate, I just want to know if the penalties will be in place this tax season or not.
Maybe this was the wrong sub forum to ask this question though. Too many people too wound up about whatever side they cheer for. It would be nice if we could just go apolitical on this one.
If I remember correctly the only thing left is for the bill to be signed into law the 20th, but no one seems to be talking about the immediate impact on my taxes. Instead they keep screaming about how everyone is going to die horribly in the next couple years without ACA.
Non partisan thoughts?

Well, I'm pretty sure tax season runs from April to April, so you may still owe a bit. I dunno, though. Perhaps you would want to speak with a tax professional concerning this.

Don't we get penalized regardless of him getting sick? Its the premiums that we are missing out on. The cost of his care will be there, absorbed by us, regardless of him paying premiums or not.
