Sterilizing contaminated grow area

Hi there friends,
I'd like to preface this by saying my first attempt at growing was with a grow kit, and I know how much everyone here dislikes grow kits but please don't judge, two friends and I got a really good deal on three mega-grow kits. So we naturally had to try it out.
Our grow area was my closet in my apartment. It has a carpet floor, and is a walk through closet through which one walks to get to the bathroom. This may have been red-flag number one, since I'm assuming growing beside a bathroom probably isn't the best idea.
To say the least, our good friend Trich reared its ugly head 2 weeks in. The substrate had a lot of nice looking mycelium in it but got contaminated by the green devil pretty quickly after the first sighting.
I threw all kits out pretty quickly, and the company sent us three replacement kits for a reduced price, so we couldn't pass it up. I'd rather just try this out one last time and then go on to doing it myself, which is obviously much cheaper. So, please no "why did you buy a grow kit you dolt just do it yourself". I entirely plan on, but right now we have them and we my as well use them.
So on to my questions.
-First, what is the best way for me to sterilize my apartment? I was thinking of using a H2O2/water spray first, and then wiping everything down. After which I would go over everything with a vinegar/water mix spray.
-How effective is hydrogen peroxide in sterilizing? Am I on the right track? This also ties into the room being carpeted. Would spraying that down sterilize it enough? Or am I basically screwed and shouldn't even attempt growing again?
I've heard bleach works too, so any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone, peace and love,

Hey. I had a very similar experience with my first attempt at growing mushrooms. Same thing grow kit. Got trich with in 3 weeks. They sent me a replacement. I was able to grow the second kit successfully. What I did differently the second time was not use the casing. Just paturized and colonized the straw and fruited from there.

By casing you mean the small little vial of casing starter hey? And did you clean your grow area at all after trich showed up? I'm scared that the little spores are everywhere, but then again could that just be exaggerated paranoia?

No I mean I didn't case it at all. I threw out the whole bag of casing and that vile. The tek instructions in those grow kits are pretty outdated. As I quickly found out searching this site. Cubensis don't need a casing layer. And the amount they give you is way too much if you are going to use it you really only need 1/4"-1/2" thick. The other thing I did the second time was cut a few 11/2 holes in the plastic lid and stuffed with polyfil like Mono tub tek found on this site for more air exchage. I'live in a house with carpet and pets and that's the only time I got trich so far( other than in a few jars) but that was a contaminated spore syringe.
