Alternatives to 8oz Wide Mouth Jars?

Mason jars aren't as much of a breeze to locate as I recall they were back in the States! I searched all over the nearest city to no avail so, my question: what is an alternative? Which alternatives did you try and how'd it turn out? I read go for a drinking cup. Whiskey glass resembles a 0.25L jar, but is it true just foil on top will do?
Does anyone know of a place with wide mouth 0.25L mason jars in Ireland?

None of those will do. If you can't find a mason jar try spawn bags. they are cheap and disposable but you will need an impulse sealer. I bet you can find mason jars if you look a little more....not sure what Ireland is like but lots of super stores like Walmart, HomeDepot etc will deliver to your door for as cheap as it would be to walk in.

8oz is 237 millilitres =0.237 litre Which is half a U.S pint.
Here, there are mason jars of 250 milliltres which is 0.25 litre, but no wide mouth. Has anyone had major difficulty with taking it outta a non wide mouth jar?
Mason jars of the desired size and shape are uncommon out here. Glass, clip lids or curved smaller at the top is what I've seen and mostly in a size bigger than 1/2 pint. Walmart, Home Depot, etc do not exist out here.
One place I found does have 0.25 litre jars, but they are either wide mouth with a glass, clip top or 0.25 litre with the top a bit smaller.

Also, I watched a video and the man used a storage bin with two holes cut out for his hands during inoculation. Is this mandatory or is there an alternative method recommended?

You won't be able to get your cakes safely out of a jar with shoulders like that. It need to be able to slid out whole. I've made mini-cakes out of shot glasses or other random containers used around the house before.

How about PP5 Zip-Loc containers? Not half pint, but they get the job done just fine.

Pick up a set of short glasses

Use aluminum foil for lids
