ok biatches let me tell you the best way to make tasty potatoes.
OK so you get a piece of foil, put your shit on it, light the bottom of the foil, inhale fumes with a straw---errr... wait
OK so you get some nice sized red potatoes. Red potatoes have the best tasting skin, but they tend to be small. So show people how big the taters are and ask how many they can eat to determine how many potatoes you need. anyway you get your grill or smoker going. this is best to do in the summertime when you're barbequeing anyway. thoroughly wash each potato then stab them with a fork a few times. next slather butter over the skins, then sprinkle on season salt, garlic powder, and ground basil. next wrap potatoes in foil then throw in the grill/smoker. if you use charcoal or like wood that's smoldering (not actually flaming up) then put your potatoes directly in those coals. Let cook for at least an hour/hour and half, turning every 15 minutes. once you feel they're done take em out and cut in quarters, brush on melted butter, then put on the grill for a few minutes, really long enough to just get some grill marks for presentation.
while they're still hot top with colby-jack cheese and real bacon bits, sprinkle with a spicy spice, like chile powder (I use this stuff called 'heat wave') and serve with homemade buttermilk ranch.
not a traditional baked potato but good nonetheless and goes great with like smoked country style ribs (if you cook the potatoes in the same grill or smoker as you meats they will taste better) or a big fat juicy steak.
and of course an ice cold beer will go perfectly with everything

i was watching martha stuwart on tv and she was cooking baked taters too but she shove big steel nail through the tater before throwing them in the oven, it cuts cooking time down by 25% cause the heat heats the metal up and it cooks the insides!
