I have a pair of Bose quiet comfort 15s or something I got super cheap used, they sound great and are super comfy.
I have gone through like 3 cords though but they are replaceable at least and cheap on ebay.
Then I have a xone 53 pair which I got for 200$ new years ago, they aren't as comfy but get much louder and have better sound quality for sure.
The Xone pair is made of metal which I love, very durable but the headphone pads are a bit hard and make my ears sore after a few hours sometimes.
They get so loud they are probably made for DJ's who leave them half off their head very nice for live music and studio stuff.

For that price you could get something pretty nice new I bet though 220$ for the 35's is pretty good as they are 350 new it seems.
The 15's are great aside from being a tad on the quiet side so I bet the 35's are stellar, definitely do some research first though.

hey dude,
i know alot about headphones, have been using them for years and have heaps of pairs of my own. let me know if you have any queries.
but yeah, in my opinion the best value headphones on the market are the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, and the AudioTechnicha ATH-m50. the ATH-m50's are a bit more expensive, but if you can afford 'em i'd recommend those.
They both have great sound for their price range, and are good solid all rounder headphones that do everything well, suit just about any purpose.
once you start looking at stuff priced above these it starts to have diminishing returns where its not really worth the money and requires other stuff like DAC's and amplifiers and etc
last verse on this is sick

Sennheiser HD 598 is my shit. Massive improvement over the HD 280 Pro, but a lot more expensive. It doesn't need an amplifier, but it does benefit from one. It has a massive plug but should come with 3.5mm adapter. I use it without amp on my laptop and sounds great.
I actually picked them up used for $50. Best value, lol!

For $50 that's amazing! Where did you get them from?? But generally for most people the hd280/m50 are good enough.
I've got a pair of denon ah-d5000's and audeze lcd-2's and a violectric v100 amp. They're epic

A Dutch computer website. They are barely used and look pristine. It's actually my first pair of nice headphones I got, haven't purchased an amp for myself yet. Those headphones you've got look really good, couldn't imagine how they sound, haha.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but the Audio Technica ATH-M50 are a consistent recommendation for a solid pair of cans.
I LOVE my Sennheiser momentum 2.0, and the wireless option adds a convenience factor that's out of this world. They also have moderate noise canceling (but if noise cancellation is your primary focus, look elsewhere).

I have the Beyerdynamic DT770 and I love them. Extremely comfortable with a really spacious sound. I think they are pretty cheap on amazon still, I got mine around Christmas for like 150. I'd recommend the 32 ohm version if you don't intend to get an amp.

The Sennheiser HD 598 are the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. The ear cups are big so they totally cover the ears and it's a very nice material! I'm very picky with things in/over/on my ears and this is the only thing I've found to appease me.

Yes I do but these are Custom In Ear Monitors not over the ear headphones. The sound quality is amazing and the fit is superb! I literally wear these babies for over 8 hours with little to no discomfort.
The best thing about them is they are built specifically for you.

Heh, that's a pretty sweet rig. To be honest I was a bit disapointed with the LCDs. They do have crystal clear sound -- You hear things in songs that you've never been able to hear before. but I'm definitely a bit of a bass head and listen to mostly electronic tunes, and the bass response of the LCDs was not where I like it to be without turning the volume up significantly where the highs become a bit sharp. I EQd it a bit to adjust it but still, would prefer not to have to tweak the sound. They're perfect for anything without a heavy bass focus though. They're perfect for orchestral/post rock type of stuff. Also they are pretty heavy and not that comfortable to wear for long periods of time. And are difficult to power requiring powerful amps, not portable either.
Where as the denons are epic. Great sound, very deep and powerful sub bass, portable, even sound good off of an ipod un-amped! They look and feel great. Just all round a great pair of headphones. And I managed to get then for literally half the price of the LCDs!
I generally prefer closed back headphones. I've got my eye on the LCD-X and fostex th-900/th-600, but they're way too unreasonably priced. I'm hoping for a big price drop at some stage lol

The lcd need a lot of power. How much does your amp put out?
I have my brothers fostex th-900, I don't think I would buy them. He bought the new sony mdr-z1r. I haven't had a chance to listen to them much yet.

Up to 2.2watts so there's plenty of power. It's definitely not as nice as a burson amp though.
What do you think of the th900s??
The fostex th900/th600 are apparently the denon ahd5000/ahd7000 but rebranded with a way higher price tag. I've listened to the fostexs and they do sound a bit better, but just the price is sooo off the mark that it's not anywhere near worth purchasing. Even at half the price I'd still be hesitant
Haven't heard of the mdr-z1r. Googled them briefly and they do look nice. It's good to see more high end closed back options entering the market. Generally the high end stuff is mostly open back. But fostex, audeze and Sony are dreaming if they think they are worth their 2k+++ price tags. They are soo overpriced.
I paid 500 for my d5000s in 2012 and while that is alot, it's literally unbeatable value. For pretty much a top of the line closed back headphone of its calibre that price is unheard of. The new fostex rebrands are easily double or triple that, and only marginally better in terms of sound quality.
High end audio is a trap. That's why I was saying before its better to just get a decent set of Ath-m50s, maybe beyers, and just be happy with that and save the extra coin

I've owned dozens of >$100 headphones and earbuds by all the companies. They all fall apart after a year! Just invested in a a pair of Shure SE-535s, they sound amazing but I will have to keep replacing the cord. Just scored a Sennheiser HD-7 for $90 refurb. They should last 5-10 years.

I have Denon AH-D2000 and Sennheiser HD-650 (closed and open respectively). I run them both through an Objective 2 headphone amp. I like them both for different reasons. Probably no pair of headphones will ever do everything perfectly.

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

I have the AH-D5000s and the O2 amp setup as well. It's fantastic. I don't like the Sennheiser sound, personally. Nice choices ont he phones though! You obviously did some research.
I wish I could've got the 7000s. They were all sold out by the time I got onto 'em unfortunately
Oh how I love me the Denon line up 2000/5000/7000. Such a sad day when they stopped making them!
Fostex is making virtually the identical headphones though with real hardwood cups--quite handsome headphones. Something to consider for those that missed out on the opportunity to buy the Denons (that is if you can stomach the price).
