Just witnessed a seizure.

Holy shit guys, I just got back from playing cards tonight and someone totally had a seizure. He was a new dude someone in our playgroup met at the card shop so no one knew if he had a history of seizures or anything. But he totally had a seizure, for like 30-40 seconds he was full on having uncontrollable convulsions and when he was done he was absolutely gone. Like I looked into his eyes and I was 98% sure he was dead until we saw he was breathing. But for like 3-5 minutes afterwards he was completely unresponsive, like his eyes were open but we was gone. That was almost more scary than the seizure because he just kept looking at everyone with this dead slightly evil look. There was a knife on the table I had to move out of sight and I feel like a bitch for doing so, but I honestly felt like he could have snapped for a second and started to use it on is. But then after like 5 minutes he became more coherent but had to throw up almost right away as soon as he came to, And then he ralphed again like 20 minutes later.
Long story short we tried to explain to him what happened but he absolutely denied it was a seizure and said it was food poisoning. We tried desperately to call an ambulance but he outright refused and after about 2 hours he left and went home after we pleaded with him to stay. I got his phone number and I'm going call him in the morning to mak sure he is ok, and I tracked down his parents over social media and contacted them. I don't really know what else I could have done but I feel super bad about this whole situation but if he refused medical treatment there is nothing I can do, it's not like we could have forced him to stay at the house against his will. Did I handle this situation right?
PS: back ground info: He just got done smoking a 2gram blunt and had been drinking before. As I said before he was new to our playgroup so I'm not 100% sure but I don't think he smokes much, atleast he usually doesn't whenever I'd seen him before.

there is only so much you can do.
probably didnt handle the actual seizure correctly... but hey when someone snaps to, denies medical treatment, and runs out the door, there really isnt much more you can do.

I really don't have anything to add other than this reminds of this one time I had an ex-coworker over
We smoked out (first time I ever smoked with the dude), drank a couple beers, and then the dude just stood up, looked completely gone, and then fell face first into my glass dinner table. And in the process gashed himself DEEP in several places due to all the shattered glass. Me and this other dude were trying so hard to wake this guy up, and he just wouldn't. We thought he was dead. But after like 90 seconds of shaking this guy he finally woke up, not having any idea what the fuck just happened.
I jetted him up to the ER because the guy was literally bleeding the fuck out -- my place looked like a damn murder scene.
He got like 50 some stitches. Shit was cray.

what a weirdo "no i didnt have a siezure" WTF?
i think u handled it pretty well. I know when someone is having a siezure, its best to lay them on the ground and play Bassnectar on your stereo REALLY LOUD.
Helps with the convulsions

just seems weird to outright deny it like nothing happened. Like doesnt he have a lapse in time where he doesnt remember what happened?

thats what i have noticed.. like a blackout of time.. but im not a doctor by any means but i believe seizures are all come from the brain, if that is true, it would make sense people dont have any recollection.

A valid theory. And yes a siezure is basically a Chaotic lighting storm in the brain.
From this thread i know i should get the siezure on video in case the person doesnt believe me.

Thanks for the reassurance everyone, I know I did what I could, but I guess what it comes down to is I just wish I could have done more.
And ya he was out, we tried asking if he was ok directly afterwards and he wouldn't respond to anything, I doubt he remembered any of of the convulsions, But still I don't know why he wouldn't believe us about it. If an entire room of people are telling you you just had a seizure you should probably listen to them.
But I just called him, no answer, probably still sleeping, gonna try back in a few hours.

The medical term for this is called "catching a whitey". In this case it was even a seizure rather than just fainting. That is about as hard as you can even whitey. He probably doesn't have a history of seizures so when you told him he had one it sounded stupid because he was unconscious and had no memory of it, and then his brain was all zapped and electrified afterwards. You probably should have called him an ambulance.

He needs to go see a real doctor. Did you do any neurological tests on him after?
Basically, check his pupils for asymmetry, ask him to follow your finger with his eyes, ask him what day and month it is, ask him touch the tip or his nose with his fingers etc.

I wish there were more education on what to do when someone's having a seizure.
I learned alot of first aid shit but when my brother had a seizure last year I came to see my mom trying to lift my brother from behind the toilet as he's shaking and making snorting sounds. I told her not to move him but she was freaking out and screaming he was choking and his girlfriend was crying about how "I can't lose him" and they fucking freaked me out so I grabbed him by the shoulders and hauled him over so he was kinda sitting against the wall and the tub.
I still dunno if that was the best idea or if we shoulda just tried to pad his head from smashing into the toilet.
Anyway, he wasn't choking. It was part of the convulsions making his throat muscles do a reverse swallow, like what you do when you're trying to hock a lugie.
Terrified my family at any rate. Cuz they didn't understand wtf was going on and I tried several times to explain what a seizure is, that it's not terribly uncommon (especially in drug addicts) and that he was fine... But they were too freaked out to listen and are still convinced he almost died.

I was working as a salesman. I stayed in a hotel with two women, other salespeople, on a business trip.
In the morning this one lady, a former marine, started having a seizure while we were on a conference call with the regional manager and all the other sales people. We were all getting ready to hit the streets for the day, she seizes, then just gets undressed and gets in bed. We were supposed to be leaving, she was all sorts of confused.
She didn't even know she had a seizure, kinda denied it. Then we all went out and got to work. She sold more than anyone in the company that day.
My sister had a seizure when I was younger, and she lost a few years of her memory, it came back after a few days, but for a while she thought she was a kid in school. She was an adult nurse with children though.

Should tell your friend not to get on epilepsy meds unless he gets diagnosed with something that would cause seizures or he has more episodes.
The doc at the ER gave my brother kepra (I think is the name) which is an antisiezure med. There's so many problems with these drugs, once you're on them you're on them for life. And they can actually cause more seizures.
A seizure is caused when the brain short circuits. It restabalizes itself in normal conditions. The young and the elderly often have seizures due to changes in the brain. People most often get seizures (non-brain damage seizures) due to a reaction of environmental factors. Which most often is gaba related drugs.
So yeah its worth checking out to see if he had a bad reaction to something but too many doctors like to jump to drug treatment when it isn't needed.

Orthostatic hypotension is really common after you smoke pot. There's tons of video of people passing out after taking a hit then standing up. Dude probably held his breath as he was standing then exhaled. This is the reverse of the valsalva maneuver that pilots use under heavy G forces to keep from passing out. A lot of people will have a short burst of muscle jerking after fainting too.
