My apartment varies from about 50F-70F throughout the day are there any gourmets that are doable?

Hi guys,

pretty much I want to grow non-actives like reishi and stuff but my temp here get pretty low during the day when I am at work (wintertime heat off). Can any edibles take the temp swings I outlined. I realize it will slow down growth a lot and I am willing to experiment, but I would rather not try if it is a resounding no.

Sure a lot of mushrooms prefer the cooler temps. Oysters being the easier. They are a good start.

I have had trouble with golden oysters with temperatures lower than 65.

Pearl oysters might be a good choice.  I keep culture around because I can get them to grow any time of year without the incubator.  I wonder if the temperature swings might induce premature primordia formation.

King oysters will perform well in that range.
Gold and pink like it hot.

What about Phoenix oysters? Word on the street is they grow in hotter temps, but can they tolerate cold?

I think Phoenix will do OK just a little slower at the colder temp. I'm growing them at 65° constant they do fine.
