Spawn ratio for cubes when dealing with straw

My question is for anyone who spawns cubes to straw. With most straw teks the suggested spawn ratio is 1:10, however, I've been told that's because straw teks are usually intended for oysters and other species that colonize fast compared to cubensis.
So any advice for cubes on straw? Should I go with 1:2 or maybe try some 1:4?

Hey Ted, You'll get better yields with higher spawn rates. It's been a while since I ran cubes on straw but if I recall, I was using 2 quarts to 12 pounds wet straw which is 1:6 by wet weight...not sure how everyone does it. That would typically kick out around 3 - 3.5z dry. More spawn or supplementation would seriously boost that number up.

Hey Mycolorado, thanks for the reply. So you were getting 3+ oz's dry from 15 pound logs? Were there problems with using the 1:6 ratio?

I was actually running monos...but, yeah, that was roughly the return which is pretty good considering the amount of spawn I was using and that it was ms. I ran a few of these all with the same result. If I were to do it again, I would up the spawn or experiment with supplementation. My guess is logs will yield similar results.

If you haven't already, check buckeye's straw log. I based all my oyster straw logs on this dude's shit and his cube logs are epic. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/16085137

I think I had about the same depth. What were your yields and did you supplement? I never harvested a second flush but can't imagine there was much left at that ratio. I always feel like a chump when I look at buckeye's logs.

Great feedback guys, I appreciate it. So what I'm hearing is that it is okay to spawn to straw at ratios of 1:5 or so?
