Do you trust the government? Do you trust the intelligence community?
    #24000594 - 01/11/17 09:22 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Or better yet, do you trust 'the media' to inform you of what is really going on with any of the agencies we pay for to protect us as a nation and perform other basic duties?

Just throwing this out there...
Interesting times we are living through...

The Government is what goes on begind curtains.  No need formthe public to be informed.  The Govt has more privacy than it's citizens.

I'm fairly certain a life in politics leaves you looking on the public as sheep or some other farm animal to minimally protect and then collect taxes and votes from. Nothing more.

This election's exposure of just how corrupt the left leaning media has been was startling. if it's all part of Putin's plan to rock our world he's doing a decent enough job at it. Especially if he releases a trove of 'leaks' on Trump.

Or, is it the Clinton Political Faction, behind the scenes, punching back? Even NYT is supposedly criticizing CNN for releasing the memos tying Trump to golden showers and who knows what else.

I know, the CIA leaking documents to MSNBC before the president-elect gets them? Sounds fishy as hell. I'm looking at current events in politics and remembering Robert Anton Wilson's advice when dealing with 'conspiracy theories': Anything is possible but what is probable.

The government and intelligence agencies have rightfully earned the American public's distrust. They brought this upon themselves. Maybe they shouldn't be so shady and constantly lie or hide information.

Politicians can't even answer a simple yes or no question without going on a five minute rant about completely irrelevant issues. They literally make promises on camera, on live television, and then say they'll do the exact opposite days later.

Aside from conspiracy theories, one could make the case we all trust the government.

When I eat at a restaurant, I don't think twice about getting sick and assume proper health code violations.
Same for taking a glass of water, or an over-the-counter medicine.
When I enter a public building, I don't imagine the building will collapse and assume proper codes have been followed.

Lead, chipotle, medical malpractice, etc.

But in general, yes. Like everything, it's a matter of degrees, right?

You would have less faith in health clad safety standards. Food places are not checked nearly enough. Fuck restaurants

And the government, to which people attribute too much credit for our luxurious society

All the media has done is this case is release leaked documents. The same exact thing wikileaks did. You guys loved that. But somehow, when the leak is damaging to your side, it's fake news. And unlike wikileaks, these documents were not stolen.

Exactly what in the CNN or NYT reports is not factual? They haven't made any assertions, they aphave only reported what the intelligence report said.

George Bush getting high with Harold and Kumar

This scene sums it up pretty well. This part especially:

Quote:

Trust the government?! Heck , I'm in the government and I don't even trust it! You don't have to believe or trust in the government to be a good American! You just have to believe in your country!

--------------------
Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free
