Hello All,
A friend of a friend is trying this for there first time, they have three jars (PF Tech) and used the formula found on this board. First three days no growth, at the end of third day some growth was noticed, steady growth for the 4th and 5th day leading into the 6th day (today). So question, the growth seem to come on pretty fast for the last three days and I want to know if this is Myc, or Cobweb...My friend has been on almost every thread on this board for cobweb but really wants a expert opinion, please see pictures.
Have been in a closet with a temp of around 70-90 varying in the dark, brought out a couple times to check on them.
Total growth time: 6 Days.
Also, the tape was left on the holes for the first 5 days...was just removed.
Thanks everyone!

That pf cake looks like it's mostly brf with very little verm mixed in. What was your ratio? I would imagine the mycelium is having a harder time working through that, more verm would've speeded up colonization times by making the mix more airy and less compacted.
It's not cobweb, just strained mycelium. That mixture is making it difficult for the mycelium to colonize the jar properly from what I can see.

Thanks for the info Soulful!
He used 3/8 cups of BRF, 1 1/2 cups Verc and 120 mil's of water to fill the three half pint jars. He was thinking he packed the jars too much though, should have left it a little more fluffy.

The beautiful healthy mycellium you see in so many pictures here is generally an example of good rhizomorphic growth. Basically like roots being able to shoot their way through soil, its the same for mycellium. If the growing medium is too compact, it will have a difficult time. That's why a BRF cake may take a month or more to colonize while a WBS jar can colonize in a week or two.

Gotcha gotcha gotcha...you think it will stall indefinitely or keep growing to fruition?
Still have this lingering feeling that it's cobweb...paranoia maybe
