Agar to grain question ?

This is day 2 of my agar to grain inoculation, i had to put the grain in the fridge to hold till the next day then trans the agar to it. I noticed the grain is a little darker then the usuals that are done right away which leads to might be on the dry side possibly, so im wondering will it still work ?

there's only one way to know.... if it's too dry it'll stall but only time will tell

This thread isn't terribly old and not sure where else to post this question.... Can I use the brf verm mixture as grain when transferring my agar to grain? Or does it have to be wbs

Cool, and when they say use tyvek as a filter, do I put the tyvek on on hLf pint jars before pressure cooker? It doesn't get extremely wet and damp while in PC?

If you want to use pf tek sub in quart jars instead of grains, inoculating with agar wedges might not be such a good idea, it might stall out on you or take a long time to colonize, since the brf mix is not shakable like grain kernels are.
If you want to go the pf tek to bulk route, use the jars you'd normally use for pf tek, filter them (polyfill or several layers of micropore tape) and skip the dry verm layer. Then inoculate using clean liquid inoculant from agar.
You cannot expect the brf/verm mix to behave the same way grain kernels do, because these are shakable and can be inoculated with an agar wedge, whereas the pf tek sub might have problems to colonize with an agar wedge, and filling a quart jar 3/4 of the way with pf tek (the same we do with grains) is a sure way to get colonization stalled.
If you aren't using agar yet and thus can't make liquid inoculants, I can tell you a trick to make a nice clean liquid inoculant without using agar.

I didn't write a tek because I'd always advise to start with agar because it's so easy and effective. But I've encountered many people who seem afraid of it and never try it, or others whose sterile technique sucks big time and can't get agar to work. This method should work well for them as it is actually quite difficult to fuck up.
I use this method for 3 different things: -When I have to use spore syringes (hate spore solution on agar) -To take pins for cloning because these will pin faster and more prolifically than agar. -And to make LI's. This inoculant is actually more powerful than LC, so if I run out of LC I can always use these pf tek plates to make a badass LI.

Awesome man, thank you for taking the time to answer my question. But to be honest I think I have even more questions after reading your posts. Ive got lots of research to do I suppose. I have some spores coming in from sporeworks tomorrow. I already tried colonizing with pf tek method a couple weeks ago, but after seeing no growth I wanna try something different. Guess I will need to make a SAB and go from there.
