So i transfered my bird seed to coco coir... does it look ready?
    #23999495 - 01/10/17 08:55 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

So i mixed my colonized wbs into coco about a month ago and it spread into the coco ..  it is most definitely not contaminated. Smells like straight mushroom, no discoleration at all just coco and mycelium.
I placed it into this glass baking pan(2.5" deep and 10×10 wide). Well it is just weird cas it is healthy smelling and looking, but the top of the bulk/coco isnt as white as i would expect from past experience then again it has been a couple years and maybe im mistaking?.
The only difference is that my previous grows were in 5g buckets 3' with bulk/coco and 1.5' vent holes at the top of the bucket(not the lid itself) and right above the bulk.

Anyways so it seems to me that it should be pure white on the surface but i see more coco than i believe i should.
I got a clean spoon and dug into the bulk (you cab see the bottom left of the pic)and it feels THICK of mycelium, not loose like plain uncolonozed expanded coir...

1.Should i wait till the top is completely white with mycelium or given the fact that it has been a month, smells like mushrooms and the bulk felt thick of mycelium  that the substrate should be ready for the fruit.
I understand it should be 3" deep, but it pretty much is because the substrate goes over the actual pan.

2. I have a clear storage contrainer that i want to use for my fruiting chamber. It is 22×16 by 12" tall.
Im useto 5g buckets but i want to switch. With this storage container, should i do a shotgun chamber or should i drill some 1.5 holes on the low and high side of the container and use it that way. I want to do more of these pans then do about 2 pans at once inside the chamber, im just doing 1 right now because im impatient

The one with flash was after i gave them a lil misting. So it may look a lil funny but as you see there is a lot of coco visable, but man it feels thick beneath the surface

Growing in buckets? What tek did you get that from
Your sub depth was 3' !!! Holy hell, you shouldn't go over 3.5", in fact 2.5" is a nice happy medium.
Use regular clear monotubs instead.

Why would you dig into your sub, that's just asking for contamination

Idk man, the coir looks too soggy for the mycelium to finish colonizing the entire surface at this stage. It looks too stalled out to be saved, but hey, give it a few more days, see if anything good happens, you may get lucky
I would focus on making more healthy spawn jars (use agar *hint hint*), working with monotubs, and following the bucket tek to a T

I think it would be considered a monotub... badically 4  1.5" holes at substrate depth and 2 at the highest point of the bucket. Cant find the tek but it was very successfull, well more fruit than i could handle, wish i could find the pics.

You're right, digging was a terrible idea. I was just trying to figure out what was going on beneith the surface, if it had a good mycelium structure.

I do have plenty of MAE agar "mini jars"(glass jars i used for peitri dishes. I have about 6 MEA jars and i have LOTS of extra wbs jars... knock on wood i have not had any contam as of yet in these batches...
You think it stalled/took a shit in the bed, even though it smeels very fresh and mushroomy? Should i do anything to reverse what you believe to be excess moisture? Thank you so much for shading ypur knowledge

For your agar containers, punch a small 1/4" hole on the top for some GE and stuff tightly with polyfill.

Then pour a thin layer of agar mix into the bottom just enough to cover the sides, put your lid on tightly, cover with aluminum foil, and PC for 20 minutes at 15 psi.

Let your jars cool down in your PC for a few hours, then take them out and transfer directly into your SAB. Now you're ready to begin some agar work!

Any updated pics of your tub?

Thanks but my agar is running smoothly. All clean, super healthy. My only concern was with this bulk grow. If it was fully colonized and since mentioned if it has too much moisture... thanks again though but my jars are going EXCELLENT; )

I can only really be sure with more detailed pics of the surface, but I'm glad you're doing well with the agar. You'll be set for your next grow, just follow the teks
