Adding CO2 to colonizing monotub?

I've searched the forums and can't seem to find anything on adding CO2 to a monotub during colonization. I was wondering if one could use a CO2 bag/bucket or simply mix water, sugar, and activated yeast in a 2 liter bottle and running a small tube to the tub to increase the amount of CO2 during colonization. Anybody ever tried this? Would it even be beneficial or a waste of time?

your mushrooms produce co2... they breath the same as you. you're wasting your time, they want air

I thought colonizing mycelium benefited from high CO2 levels and the drop in CO2 when introducing fruiting conditions was a pinning trigger? If that's true, wouldn't actively increasing the CO2 levels during colonization improve performance?

No, it will encourage molds if your co2 levels are too high.
Simply allow for zero fresh air exchange and co2 levels will sky rocket and mold will follow if not treated accordingly. Mushrooms emit a lot of co2 they breath o2.
Forget this silly thought move on and keep learning. Pay attention to newer posts not old post more so

it shouldn't take long for co2 to build up in a tub at all. adding to it is a waste of time and resources considering the mushrooms passively turn o2 into co2 literally 24/7 decrease of oxygen is equal to increase of co2. increase in oxygen is equal to loss of co2. cut off airflow and you'll increase co2 levels

Seems like a good way to grow some mold

It would be interesting to hear if somebody has ever tried this.

it's pretty safe to say you would be spending money you don't need to for some mold on the first flush

I appreciate all the info! I've successfully run ~60 1/2 pint BRF cakes and have 12 quart jars of WBS at around 40% colonization. Pretty excited about my first bulk grow and couldn't have made it this far without all the help from this community. You guys rock.

Ha. Yeah, 60 total. Ran batches of 6 until I felt I had enough experience with the PF Tek. If I recall correctly, I only lost 3 or 4 jars to contamination. This has by far been one of the most interesting and rewarding hobbies I've picked up. I'm in the process of building a flow hood so I can get into some agar work. I know a flow hood isn't absolutely necessary, but I had some extra money and I like to build and tinker, so...
