Capfactory said: Hey man nice write up ! I’m kind of a noobie on my first run and I am using this tek ! On feb 14(8 days after spawn ) when you put it into fruiting how did you introduce FAE??? Did you take off the red tape and replaced it with mp tape ? I saw you took the tapes out when the Pins came in ! So what did u do differently when you were introducing it to fruiting ?? And lastly can I just leave the MP tape on from colonization to fruiting ? Basically put in fruiting conditions from the very start ?
Only have a few posts up, but to answer ur question, yes you can just put it straight into fruiting conditions with MP on ur mono holes once you spawn 😁
I have 5 mini monos and one 66qt mono of AA+, 1 of which has started to fruit a few big side fruits the last couple days and am waiting on pinning in the middle cos I messed with my tub early on n should have just left it 😑

Has anyone tried those automated tubs? I've seen pictures of them floating around, where someone built a responsive fan and humidifier into the tub. If it works I imagine it scales well.

Just not needed with cubes. A monotub/shoebox does all the work you need.

Do you fan and mist your tubs? Maybe I'm not dialing in correctly. I'd love to just not touch the tub at all until harvest, even second or third flush.

I’m not sure how you’re going to not touch a mono until second or third flush no matter how well you dial it in. How are you going to harvest the first flush? At the least misting after you harvest a first flush cannot be that much of an inconvenience.

That's what I meant: no fanning or misting until harvest. And after harvest, just putting it back on the shelf.
Misting after first flush wouldn't be an inconvenience. Have been dunking/soaking but would def mist if that worked as well. Has that been working for you?

you can leave it completely alone with ok results in most cases if the room has nice FAE and flow.
But why not just put in the extra small amount of effort to make it more optimal?

This is an unbodified tub, I put this together Sunday AM. Following the instructions in the tek, lid on upside down from the beginning. This is in a room with 40-50% RH, no fan but the air cycles on and off throughout the day.
It's been a few years since I've grown and this is my first time doing it this way (familiar with coir/rye though). Previously I never put into 'fruiting' conditions immediately, left lids on until fully colonized. Should I be misting this guy before it's fully colonized? Sides have some moisture, but surface and walls of tubs do not. Have seen good growth day by day, so nothing looks like it's stalled due to lack of moisture.

Yes, micropore tape is a PITA as well. However, it's a more easily quantifiable adjustment of FAE.
Layers vs degree of twist.

Hello, as far as I can tell, the ideal surface conditions for pinning are small glistening beads covering the entire substrate.
Is this true once the pins are growing into fruits?
Do the ideal surface conditions change as the fruits get bigger?
Should the surface of pins that are maturing into mushrooms still be covered in small glistening beads?
If the ideal surface conditions are constant throughout the growth stage (up until harvest), how can I maintain thousands of small beads on the substrate without drenching the fruits?
Thank you!

Should you mist the surface at spawn? As in after i level out the sub/spawn give it a misting before i put the lid on?

I realize this thread is old as fuck lol I have been doing this for years but I am curious.....What is the consensus on keeping tubs in the dark until fruiting...?
Looking back over this thread I didnt see comebackkid mention covering the monos while they colonize in the first stage.

The general consensus now is to give the tubs 12/12 lighting at all times.
I even keep my agar on that same cycle.

Thank You. This actually makes it much easier to see the condensation collecting on the top tub lid!

shouldnt need to if you achieved proper field capacity.
