Surface and fruits look pretty good so that’s probably why.
Thanks for checking it out. Yep, ms from syringe. I want up my level eventually to agar/cloning etc once I have the basics dialed in. You think the low yield is primarily due to the fact that is ms?
The low yield is more likely from bacterial spawn as a result from putting your spore solution to grain. Once you start germinating and cleaning your cultures on agar you will notice far more consistency in your grows. Even MS is pretty damn consistent IME. I'd guess over 90% of the grows I've shared to this site have been MS

Mist when the sub starts to dry. Pins fruits and all. Just take care of that sub

I’m curious to see how much better the yields get with agar, prob spawning my first clone in the morning.
All mine have been ms to grain but there’s only been two jars of spawn that looked super healthy, and they both happened to be my best pinset/yield.
I agree about ms though, even with less than perfect spawn I haven’t had one grow that was disappointing.

Shoot I have my first clone shoebox of PE6 and it was way low on yield. Oversaturated sub screwed me. I have a SB of same variety but different clone doing better but I dropped it and it fell out onto the floor and broke in half. It's covered in pins already. They are still growing. Slow. They haven't aborted. That's what I was afraid of. So far MS has done good for me. PE6 and Costa Rican has given me canopies. I'm trying to do better at cloning. I have an ape clone SB 95% colonized. These are first ones I've done that are not MS. Spawned 2 58qt monos of two different PE6 CL's. The verm was fine grade. Will that make it too compacted? I didn't think about it until after.

Ok cool. So there is no chance of increasing aborts, or mold, etc when misting with pins, or larger fruits?

Read this
I've also been inspired to put another write up/ grow log in the works
Feel free to join me here
hobbit I used fine grade verm in my PE clone tub. It's good stuff

It looks very wet and matted but other than that pretty good.
I’d say ease up on the moisture and let it do it’s thing.

When do you actually start to worry about surface moisture? I mixed spawn with my substrate 5 days ago. Unmodified monotub and no casing layer straight to fruiting conditions. Substrate was at field capacity. Currently I have zero moisture on the surface or on the walls of the tub. Does the mycelium start pushing up beads of moisture on its own or should I start thinking about misting now?

I usually dont worry about moisture until the myc has colonized the top layer of coir. Although if your coir is drying out before that then you should mist and dial your tub in a little tighter
