so what you guyz think, it looks as though the myc is taking over, but im not fully positive about it, iz only been 2 days that it has been there.... any idea what it is and if the myc does end up taking over it, iz it still safe? hepl hepl hepl!
though rather redundant, my dog has kept cakes around with both mycelium and contaminates in the jar, to see which would win. sometimes the mycelium can co-exist/win/work around the contamination. but as for consuming such a mushroom from a cake, i certainly wouldnt. whats not harmful to them might be to us.
but all in all, if you have more jars than you need at the moment, its sometimes fun to keep those particular jars isolated to see what happens. my dog has seen some pretty amazing looking contaminations in the past. just because its contaminated doesnt mean its bad and should be tossed, just means its bad for you, and you should never open it.
anyway, both me and dog say, stay safe, dispose of it safely, and never consume anything from any cake that looks 'bad for you'.
p.s. maia, the dog wanted me to add that hes also seen mycelium give rise to fruitbodies, in the midst of a splattering of black mold. but of course, that means nothing, since theres so many types of mold that could be black at any stage in their colonization.
