Got an interesting email from Amazon.com * 1
    #23996904 - 01/09/17 10:57 PM (7 years, 21 days ago)

Apparently the DEA has recognized mushroom substrate jars as a schedule 1 substance. I got an email from amazon saying they removed my listing, as seen in the image below. I was selling sterilized BRF substrate jars, nothing else. Just straight BRF and vermiculite mixture. Surprisingly lots of people were buying them and I made some good money off them. I even had a disclosure saying that they were for edible mushrooms only. Very interesting.. But hey if they say it's a schedule 1 substance then that's enough motivation for me to stop selling them and maybe lay low for a while. What do you guys think?

Yeah, ummm, I'd say that does indeed qualify as an "interesting" email, lol.

I'd keep selling them. Jars with rice aren't illegal.

If i were you, I would find somewhere else to sell them..Everyone knows what they are used for, but until then it is just jars and rice.

I got a interesting email from USPS from MY USPS..

"USPS item seized by law enforcement" a little while ago. Guess you gotta love legal states not caring about personal amounts of weed.

Thats dumb as fuck

If thats the case I have absolutely no clue how bongs arent illegal. Bongs can be used to smoke anything, just as sterilized jars can be used to grow anything

Here's my theory. Amazon likes to cover there ass, so even though your jars arent illegal, they're not allowing you to sell them. Just like they pulled almost, if not all, kratom listings

Those bastards! :mad2:

Ive seen some jars on eBay, im thinking of buying some just for kicks, hope they dont go illegal there too!

Maybe u need to rename the posting or just sell the jars as if they were empty then include the mixture "for free"

Pretty sure what you are doing isn't illegal, so I don't know how that is possible.

Probably not worth hiring a lawyer over but seems like BS. Also are you sure the email is legit? Did you email back or phone amazon to check in on the matter?

No idea why someone would do that but as another member mentioned it does kinda look fake.

There's nothing illegal or schedule one about sterilized brown rice and vermiculite.
Email does look kinda fake. If it was actually amazon and they were actually forcing you to remove your listing because it's "DRUGS" I'd think they would probably fucking do that themselves not say please comply in 48 hours

From what I understand certain items that are technically perfectly legal, such as microgram scales, are heavily watched by the DEA, it's possible they might have added products like these jars to that list of watched items too.

It's possible. But you can still buy Naphtha and Lye and Glass Turkey basters and San Pedro and Mimosa Hostilis and they all show up in related items LOL
I would think an official Amazon email would be worded a bit differently than that. Or if it actually violated their terms they would remove it themselves. I could be wrong.
But the wording is kind of jacked up. It's most definitely not a schedule 1 controlled substance. Now if they said something about possible manufacturing or something..
If it is Amazon, that's a piss poor template. If it's a spoof... probably some competitor or something.

I'm guessing somebody flagged OP and Amazon sent some kind of warning without bothering to look through the listing. I would try to write an appeal or send an email to the proper channels to get this sorted out. Don't just delete the listing without getting to the bottom of this first.

So i looked up that link: https://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/21cfr/cfr/1308/1308_11.htm

Looks legit. Has a long list of sch 1 substances including Psilocybin and psilocin. And since mycelium contains both, PF jars can make those amazing chemicals.

Its either this scammer did their homework or it really is from the DEA.

I don't think microgram scales are watched. They are just hella expensive (for a proper one)

Glassware is most certainly watched but there is a big difference between glassware used to make meth or something and a dozen pint jars from your local grocery store.

I can't see how adding 2 legal items to these jars could make it illegal. There is tons of places that sell these, and shroomery sponsors too. I'm certain they all pay their share of taxes and declare their income.

@ OP

Seems like it could be a competitor, I have a feeling as the email looks fake, if not, I would still try to challenge Amazon on the matter, cause that is bull shit. Unless you are selling jars that you have injected with illegal spores then there is nothing going on here violating any laws.

It's definitely a competitior. Amazon would remove the listing themselves if it was real. I just looked on amazon, there's tons of people selling these jars, even with pictures of colonizing mycelium in the jars. Those adds would have been removed too if amazon was cracking down on that. I also just tried to google if jars are actually schedule 1 and could not find anything about that

There's no way jars are schedule 1 and there is no way that their purchase is monitored, even sterilized ones used for mush growing. Not a chance.

This basically.

There's a list of like the 10 weirdest things banned on Amazon I watched on YouTube. One of them was a shirt that said "I love [some German scientist]" who wasn't really affiliated with the Nazi party but Amazon pulled it for that reason. Like he was the guy designing doomsday devices or something

Amazon got complaints, they're a large enough business to heed complaints and not lose much more than a few dimes. They don't care how valid the complaints are. They care about the distant potential of trouble. And anyone claiming their vendors are selling illegal products will definitely have them hopping.

Take note that its the Controlled Substances Act.

That is, by law, only chemical "substances" are scheduled (for the most part). I believe there are three "plants" in the CSA.

Yea well Good Luck explaining to the DEA that your just using 'MHRB' for dyes as you have all the chemicals needed to extract the damn bark right infront of you.

I get it about the mushrooms too, thats not far down the road from being banned IMO either.
However, the difference between mushrooms and MHRB is MHRB is imported from South America, and mushrooms grow everywhere in this world.

I mean, the only thing seperating a PF jar from being illegal is some spores.

PF jars have only one legit use: spawning cubenis spores.

And PF has been on the internet since the 70s, im not surprized the DEA finally caught on.

Other mushrooms can be grown with the PF Tek jars I believe. Portobello is what they used in the RR Vids irrc.

yah, but its like the MHRB and dye thing. Sure, some people use MHRB as dye, but MOST people use it for DMT extraction.

Is a bong really for tobacco?

It is different though. Mimosa is a precursor. It actually has illegal drugs inside it.

The jars are just farming equipment. There are people who grow gourmet mushrooms all over.

I went to a farmers market and these people had booth with a bunch of "organic home grown" mushrooms of many varieties. They were kinda pricey,  it were selling nicely.

But people who grow gourmet mushrooms dont use PF jars, they use straw bags or straw logs.

and MHRB is a very direct precursor as it contains DMT trapped inside the bark, not a DMT precursor that needs chemical synthesis.

Yeah precursor is not really the right word there. It already contains an illegal drug. IMO he was right in pointing out that your comparison was pretty strained though.

If the message is legit then it may stem from confusion between colonized and uncolonized substrate. If it was colonized then (IIRC) there could be detectable amounts of illegal drugs present. Maybe someone can correct me on that point but I thought I remembered reading that there was at least some psilocin/psilocybin from pretty early on.

you could always just sell the substrate and the jars separately? Seems kind of bogus to me. I would probably do some research to see if those things are actually scheduled... and if not, sell away!
