Can I mix fine vermiculite with a crumbled up cake or however many cakes you recommend (B+ 1/2 pint jars fully consolidated) into this tray? and let the broken up cakes colonize the vermiculite and then grow shrooms from there out of the tray
edit: i would break the tray into 2 pieces and have 2 trays growing
and im already aware of making a sgfc but id rather try to grow "bulk" as i already have a cake in a sgfc

Just fruit the cakes as cakes.

The trays would need to be placed in a fruiting chamber like an SGFC or else they will dry out very quickly. So if you're asking "can I use styrofoam trays?"
I'm sure you could but I'd go with plastic trays and a black trash bags for a liner.
