Behold, my teriyaki stir fry! 4

And god said, let there be teriyaki. And it was good

The stir fry is pretty simple but I made the sauce from scratch and it turned out danklicious. Ginger + garlic as the base with some tamari and honey then I used some random herbs and a bit of fresh and dried pepper to give it some extra kick Used a lot of marin too which is an asian cooking alcohol it adds some sweet and savory tones and I think it helps the sugar and salt caramelize more.
Here it is finished:

Tis glorious

Thanks I am lazy a lot too but it is so much cheaper to cook when you plan out meals and shop at places with good prices.
I need to hit an Asian market up and get a huge thing of yakisoba noodles, they aren't the healthiest but they are so damn tasty in stir fries

I wish I had made more becouse it is addicting, I love the rich aftertaste of fresh teriyaki. Even simple homemade stuff like this is way better then a lot of american "chinese" food
Thai food is hard to beat though, I need to learn some thai recipes. Would be cool to make potstickers or some other delicious appetizer as well.

Are we actually allowed to sell and trade food in the marketplace? If so I'd totally consider selling some of my sauces, like my KBBQ sauce and tamarind sauce.

They are just some cheap yakisoba noodles from Fred Meyers, not the best but good for stir fries.

Teriyaki does have a darker color, i believe from the teriyaki sauce cooked into the noodles during th stir fry stage. At least how ive seen it.
Theres this microwavable plastic bowl i get, cant remember the name, but the noodles are thick and bright white and used for "Kung pao" flavor (thats one of three flavors). Its pretty legit and tastes/feels pretty damn good. I bet they would be good for teriyaki stir fry.

The sauce I made was near black in its little pot, thinned out its more of a dark yellow/ Amber though like hash oil. Sometimes when I pour it into the stir fry it leaves behind some hardened sauce that is like teriyaki candy

Assuming it was just the noodles and not the sauce that made them that color they were likely some variety of soba (buckwheat) noodle.

So tonight I kinda want to do a stir fry- dunno the girlfriend wants bbq chicken though, (at least last night she did), but I wouldn't mind doing a rice noodle stirfry with chicken and some sort of brown sauce. COULD one combine a bit of curry-spices with a brown sauce and have it work out well?

Yeah what is wrong with BBW chicken anyways
Not sure about the curry + brown sauce, do you mean soy sauce or something by brown sauce"?
Sauces can be tricky, I have made a lot of gross inedible ones while experimenting with random combos of stuff
If you have ginger/ garlic and soy sauce + sugar you could get a pretty decent teriyaki.
I just boil up a solid mount of ginger and garlic in some water then slowly add soy sauce/ tamari and sugar until it tastes pretty strong. I don't like it too salty or sweet so I try and use a lot of ginger and garlic to give it a nice earthy kick, some peppers go really good in it as well but even a little cayenne or black pepper gives it some extra kick. Then you just simmer it down until it is at the desired thickness and volume.
I like to keep it a bit watery then pour it all over the stiry fry and let it cook in for awhile

By brown sauce i mean a chinese/asian brown sauce, not the stuff people in the UK call brown sauce heh
When I do a brown sauce usually I mix together some soy sauce, oyster sauce, a teaspoon or so of fish sauce, then i'll dilute that mixture with some chicken broth and some mirin/sake, sometimes I'll use chinese cooking wine too. I then add a bunch of minced garlic and ginger. Oh and some brown sugar... almost forgot a little bit of sugar.
I could add fresh turmeric and some other things too I guess?

Yeah that sounds pretty good, I used some powdered turmeric in my sauce last night and it really added to the color and a bit to the flavor, made it healthier too.
With fresh stuff I would start with just a little though as it has a pretty intense flavor. I made some super strong fresh turmeric tea once and it was hard to drink

I guess it depends on how much soy sauce you use, and what kind of noodles you use. Some noodles like soba noodles are naturally dark grey in color.

Is it possible to do a proper stirfry at home in the US? Where I live the gas-pressure is too low to create that hot flame needed to do some true wokking

I cooked mine on a gas stove. Honestly I prefer a long lower heat cook then just torching it.
The flavors get preserved better at a lower heat I think.

I love that high heat cooking. Veggies stay crisp, meat gets that roated taste
You need insane amounts of heat though, otherwise everything just gets broiled. Big roaring flames are key

I almost wish this thread would die becouse it is making me want more asian food
I still have 1 packet of noodles and I got some pot stickers which I love adding to stir fries, maybe I will make a smaller batch tonight
Been meaning to try and make a nice large batch of sauce so I will actually have extra for once
I practically can't eat without smoking the ganja, toking before food is just engrained in me now and I always do it out of habit

I keep my bong on the living room table generally so I can fuse into the couch with it
But there usually are at least 1 or 3 various sized jars of weed sitting around, right now I am getting a bit low on bud though. Plenty of oil n kief though thankfully

Oregon is like that in general I feel like. For years as I walk around town I smell herb everywhere, from people growing and smoking it all over
I have my med card too which helps though I actually need to renew it soon

I agree weed in oregon is everywhere especially in Eugene even before the legalization.
I love stir fry when stoned. Easy to make too.
