Making Changes. When and how? 1

How do we relate to change in our lives? Some changes are unavoidable, inevitable facts of life like the changing seasons and aging. At other times, we can make choices to go on adventures and follow our path through life.
For the most part, I've always lived with or near my family. I currently live near to them and in a really great place in the city. It's been a magical half a year living here, but I've recently met someone who, though they are younger than me, has such a strong urge to travel and explore the world that it's opened my eyes to the vast possibilities just by having the courage to go out into the unknown and explore the world. She doesn't have a strong attachment to her family like I do, but her curiosity and passion for adventure and experiences has inspired me nonetheless.
So even though I'm secure where I'm at, have great friends and family, I'm feeling like I want to take a chance and find something new, to really see if I can find my own place to call home, somewhere which will inspire me as I continue to work on my music.
Does anybody have advice for someone at this stage in life? I could easily stay where I'm at and continue building up my efforts and resources as things are, but later on I might always wonder what would have happened if I had taken that chance and gone in a new direction. I've always wanted to see where I would go if I just follow the wind...

Give it a shot, it doesn't have to be permanent. Sounds like you're lucky in that you have a place always to call home..., Maybe there is no replacing that feeling, but that's okay. Hell it's good even. But you still should indulge that wanderlust some, because as you said, you may regret not having done it down the road. Good luck to ya.

When you're 100% sure and don't have to ask in a forum like this.
I guess it's like taking psychedelics, if you aren't completely certain for yourself then I would say don't do it.

Yeah but if I just wait until i'm 100% certain, how will I ever really do anything in life? I mean doubts are a natural thing to grapple with, right? So I'm presenting some questions I have because I'm unfamiliar with making a decision like moving far away from home.
I guess I can start smaller than that though, I could start by planning a trip out somewhere and see how I feel with traveling, knowing that I'll be coming back. Maybe after something like that I'll have a better grasp on what it would mean to forge out on an unfamiliar trail.
I appreciate that idea though, finding my 100% certainty. I guess that should be my first goal.

Doubts may be natural to grapple with but shouldn't you be able to overcome them eventually?
I guess there will always be some doubt with a change as big as travelling to another country. I guess my concerns would be the costs and if you can afford to have a mishap.
If you're financially secure then I think you can bite the bullet but if not then it sounds a bit risky.

Yeah, it would be all of my savings to travel. I think I need to save up a lot more first... which puts this on a broader time table,
but see now I'm glad I made this thread because just listening to different opinions helped me to think this through more clearly.
I do want to travel, and sometimes we have to make changes that seem frightening or unexpected, but I think I can do it in such a way as to really make the most out of it. Saving up for longer, for instance, is a good idea. But also, I think I could start smaller than another country and just try to road trip around and see how I like other places than the South of the U.S. Maybe that will help me find the inspiration I'm looking for as well.

Above sounds like a good plan - just that - have a plan. If you get somewhere new, it's a little overwhelming, so I think it's a good idea to start with a visit.... Moving, you have to learn your way around, get licensed to drive there, everything..... It's a lot.... But visiting is a little less..... Like ya said you'll know you're coming back.

It's hard to adapt to change when things get so rock solid at home base. It becomes hard for me at least to break the cycle and I had the same mindset last year. But I decided to break the cycle and I traveled to Iceland last year and saw another piece of this world and its culture. I met people from all walks of life and it truly gave me a new look on life.
If I was you I would definitely step outside you comfort zone and explore the world. Because one Thing you can never have said on your deathbed is "what if". A life lived in regret is no life at all. But that's just me. And we all stumble though life and make of it what we will. Cheers my brotha

In the end, it all comes down to being yourself and taking responsibility for who and what you are

Thanks man, I really appreciate your post. I'm actually making some changes in the direction of traveling, but I'm working my way into them gradually. I want to see Japan, so I'm going to save up as much as I can and learn some Japanese before I actually set off. That way I'll be able to more readily experience the full breadth of the culture and understand the communities I come across.
Plus, I have a lot of projects already in the works at my home base, so by giving myself a longer time here I'll be able to explore them more fully.
