fruiting monotub in the cold
    #23993029 - 01/08/17 04:54 PM (7 years, 22 days ago)

hello. i have a fully colonized monotub with coir in my house and i put it in fruiting conditions yesterday. we can only heat the house with fire, no radiator here. so it can get really cold in the wintertime (that is now), especially if nobody is at home. it should not go much below 60F but its possible...

i have read that cold temperatures produce stronger and meatier mushrooms.
so my question: what is too cold for fruiting?

is it possible that too cold temperatures destroy the mycelium at some point?

thanks for your answers

kind regards

Try to raise it to 65 at least. I've grown under 60*F  in my thread ran outta mushrooms and the temp added significant time to fruiting, but still fruited very strongly. Not the end of the world, 60*F will work but I'd count on an extra week or two. And really try and find a way to raise it above 65 if you want reasonable time tables.

Cubes are tropical, idk what is too cold, but it will slow the growth down close to nothing near 40-50*F I would estimate

But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go
If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow
That it's one thing to try and another to fly
You get there quicker just a step at a time
It's one thing to bark, another to bite
The show ain't over till you pack up at night
