BRF substrate for mycobag?

I have a few jars made using the PF Tek method for the very time and have a lot of brown rice flour and verm left.
Instead of waiting for weeks only to find out I might have screwed something up with my jars I was thinking of trying the mycobag method as a fail-safe and to try something different.
Would the PF Tek substrate I used for the jars work well in the mycobags? I was just thinking of making the same amount (5 jars worth) of substrate and dumping this in a mycobag. What do you guys think about this?

You can load bags with it sure. When it's colonized, take it out of the bag, dunk the giant bastard, coat in a heavy layer of verm and fruit out of the bag (preferably a new one). Should work.
I had some BRF and verm leftover so I made quart jars with 1/4" lids covered in micropore tape and shot them full of liquid inoculant.

Cool, that's what I was hoping to do. How long should I leave the bag in the PC? Also can I just inoculate the bag by sticking the syringe right through it without opening it and then taping over the hole?

If you don't have a self healing injection port on the bag don't bother.

TBH, you could run 5 more jars and learn culture work, so by the time these are done you'll have more fruiting and a constant exchange of cakes. You won't even have to disassemble your fruiting chamber.. just rehydrate the perlite.
Then, if you get strong cultures off beastly fruits or clustered fruits on your cakes, you can use that tissue for grain bags.

I haven't bought any yet, just trying to find a good price on some bags still.
Since I'll be using the same amount of substrate as for 5 jars do you think I should use 5cc of spores or do you think I can skimp a little?

I guess that might be better since I have all the equipment already. The only thing I'm worried about is the jars being easier to contaminate versus a bag which I technically don't have to open after sterilizing.

PF jars are a lot less likely to contaminate.. you'll end up with a giant brick of a bag though. You shouldn't be opening jars after sterilizing.

I definitely don't open the jars. Just that I was using a ghetto glove box made of Seram wrap and cardboard with pretty big arm holes. I think I'll invest a few bucks in a tote when I get paid next.

You don't need a huge one. I've got a smaller one for culture work and a larger one for quart jars. No need to buy a chuck and a hole saw. You can hold a large metal coffee can in one hand and get the ring red hot on the stove or a torch and gently press with even pressure. Don't forget oven mitts! It'll make a hole but it'll stink. The smaller the better for the finer things, so long as you have room and aren't cramped. Small ones are also good for making prints, culture work, etc.
