Put this into fruiting after ten days of colonizing because it didn't seem to be going all of the way, and the last one I jumped the gun on did pretty well, so whatever.
Either way, looks to me like a few pins forming here and there. What say y'all?

So, is all of that thicker, brighter white - the clumping looking stuff.... is that knotting?

Looks pretty dark in the bottom right...is it just the camera flash?

Uncolonized coir/verm. Like I said, I put it into fruiting a bit early because it seemed as though it was stalling. So yeah, def dark.
I've had some trouble with my WBS jars stalling some too. I've been trouble shooting, thinking it was the seeds drying out, or not enough GE. I don't know.
I'll probably start another thread about that, tbh. I just bought 20 or so pounds of rye berries though and the first PC cycle literally just stopped. Back a decade or so when I was growing then I had a lot of luck with rye, and never really had a problem getting the moisture content correct. I have been using WBS this round because it's much more accessible, but the stalling issues are pushing me away. It's also a lot messier.

Do people still patch? Or do I not understand how that works and it's not applicable?

I kind of remember what that's all about, but it has to do with patching up a substrate after a flush, does it not?

No its when you patch a casing layer if you used one so that you get even penetration of mycelium.
I wouldn't patch after harvesting at all ever

Ahhhh, makes more sense. My memory is pretty kaleidoscoped and I shot from the hip, so there is that.
My experiences with growing are way different this time around than they were from 02-05. Firstly, I live in a much colder, drier climate. Secondly, I don't have access to a horse and his never ending stream of shit. Thirdly, I'm much more curious about actually understanding things rather than just producing a bunch of fungus and being ultimately result oriented. I never fucked with agar before, and had WAAAAAYYY more contamination. However, I was able to stumble my way into such huge amounts of fungus that I never really thought I was doing anything wrong.
While I have had immediate and pretty decent success this time, I have also run into issues that I didn't the first time around. I'm also much more interested in consistency and understanding my my successes are successes and my failures, failures.
I never bothered to use this forum before, other then to grab a few teks and go from there.

Give the surface a good look, if there isn't tiny beads of moisture coating the surface, then you should give the tub a light misting to encourage evaporation from the surface which will stimulate a nice pinset
