Cali and Oregon Morels
    #2399065 - 03/03/04 04:59 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Anyone find any yet? Mushroomexpert.com has a reported sightings up to southern Oregon.

I've got the fever and it's bad. I'm heading south Mar19-28 to Shawnee Nat'l Forest and other neighboring state parks and forest to hunt.

A freind found some black morels. I don't know the specifics on where they were found though.

GGMM (Stamets) has the most optimistic section on growing your own morels outside.

YidakiMan-

I doubt you'll find any morels down in Shawnee. I live around there, and the morels aren't up until about the second week of April. A good sign to look for is that the oak leaves are as big as rat ears, and the bloodroot is blooming. Hope you find some sometime! And trust me, I've got the fever, too!
