Hello growers !
I want to share my grow of the moment.
Wine cap in monotub. Substrate : plain coir/verm 12/12 light cycle under a 25 watts 6500 CFL light Temperature is 63-68 F... (while outdoor temp is anywherwe between -22 and 32 F )
I spawned 5q to coir and let it colonize for 10 days then introduced FAE, and light.
Waiting for the pinning.

peace !

Yes correct. I use peatmoss with a little lime or wood ash to bring the pH up a bit.

I just put some casing on a bag a few days ago so will see how it goes! The bag was well colonized and forming some nice strands..

I think some compost and wood mulch would be a good idea for casing layer. You want as many benificial microbes in there as possible.

Compost sounds good. Mine is frozen solid at the moment Just need to keep the nutrient level low or it will just keep making nice fluffy mycelium.

Even if this tub doesn't work out, you will have enough spawn to build a huge ass outdoor patch!

If I'm remembering right I just used some leaf litter and soil dug straight from outside as a casing and planted strawberries into it. Always seemed to get a flush after I watered the strawberries heavily.

Nice thread MrGiraffe! I tried some soil from my flower bed on another grow but it mostly grew liverworts, moss, weeds etc. Got lots of mycelium clumping up the sides and growing over the soil but the rhizomorphs didn't form too well. Hoping the peat works better this time around.

Well, a week ago Ive put some casing compost/peat/earth and no fruiting yet ... dont understand but the mycelium is pretty darn healty its ripping trough it like crazy, ... Humidity is kind of high and Ive got FAE...
it would suck to lose that culture.
It comes from an year old master jars that I G2G... old age = no fruiting ?
Yeah well the outdoor patch project is no for now yet, everything is under a good 2 feet of snow here .

Looks good so far- I second the casing layer. Also with a monotub you do want a fan in the room but not blowing directly at it.

I read through my thread again. I had a 3" layer of inoculated mulch in the bottom of the tub and then put 2-3" of soil on top and lightly mixed the mulch into it. It was just a casing. Also pretty sure the wine cap mycelium does better if disturbed. Try scratching around the casing layer to mix in a little bit of your spawn.
